New to CPAP
I started about 5 weeks ago got a sinus infection and back on the machine again. Doctor said I had sever sleep apnea.AHI 82 complex with some central and a low oxygen sat of 22, hard to believe that but he said it is accurate and the lowest he has seen. He has me on oxygen at night with the Cpap setting of 18. Having a hard time find a mask that I'm comfotable with and doesn't leak. The FisherPaykel zest seems to work best but still not great. I am 50 years old Male and 470 lbs. 6' tall. I've lost 40 lbs since first of the year, I need to speed that up. Iv'e been searching the web alot to learn all I can about this. I work daily but I am setting at a computer doing CAD drawings for construction, so trying to stay focused is important. Any suggestions from people of similar sleep problems is appreciated. Thanks
Re: New to CPAP
Hi and welcome to the forum. You might want to take a few minutes and fill out the equipment section of your profile so others in the forum know what specific recommendations to make. Some of the CPAP machines record lots of data and some machines only record the hours used (these we call bricks). If your machine records data there is software available to download and analyze the effectiveness of your sleep. The more effective your therapy, the better your results will be.
BTW I am not a doctor, nurse, RT or any other kind of health care worker but DAYUMMMMM a pulse ox of 22 and you are still alive to type...you obvious have to desire to succeed
