Full Face Mask - cold air blowing on face

Post by danjeharry » Sat Sep 08, 2012 4:30 pm

Hey all,

My first post. I usually use a nasal mask (Respironics Easy Life), but I have a bunch of environmental allergies so often get nasal congestion (taking antihistamines/nasal steroid sprays but doesn't always works). So I sometimes switch to a full face mask. I'm using the Respironics Comfortgel Full Face right now and I've tried the resmed quattro before as well. With all the full face masks I've tried, I always get the feeling of cold air being blown directly onto my face, esp during inhalation, which I don't get with the nasal masks. Has anyone else experienced this before? Are there any masks/workarounds that prevent this from happening? Not sure why it happens in full face masks vs nasal.

Thanks

It seems to go with the territory.
Once I got used to it, I hardly noticed it.
In winter, I am particularly grateful for my heated hose.

I do not use a full face mask so I don't have any suggestions to help with cold air blowing on your face, but I do have the same nasal mask (Respironics Easy Life) and find that if I use some sort of aromatherapy scent, like Pur-sleep, on nights that allergies and nasal congestion are a problem, it helps me immensely. Give something like this a try for those nights that you can almost make the nasal mask work, but would normally need to give up and use the full face. I find that their scent called 'Clear' works very well for me and helps my nasal passages open enough to then let the XPAP machine air do what it does best...
