S9 autoset users do you notice this with your h5i?

Post by mzlaura1884 » Fri Aug 31, 2012 11:41 pm

It seems the water for mine is completely gone within 2 days.. even after i fill to max line. Is this normal? Also i get fog on that part of the machine a lot in the window. Sometimes i will go to sleep and my water is at least on the min line but when i wake up the thing is completely empty.. so strange... do we really use that much humidification through the night? Just wanted to ask if this is normal as i have to refill again tonight.

Yup, very normal. I have my humidifier set at 80º F and top it off every other day.

It depends on your settings. I have mine set to humidity of 5 and temp of 77. I usually fill it to just under the max line. If I have a 8-9 hour night, it is almost empty when I get up. I check it every night. Sometimes, I have a short night with the machine, so it doesn't need as much. But I do use a lot of humidity. Otherwise, I get dry mouth.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

I have the humidity thingy set to 3 and I don't use a lot of water, I can go 4+ days on a "fill up". A gallon jug of distilled water lasts me more than a month (guessing). It depends mostly on the setting and the humidity level in the room I think.

Hi--I live in Arizona and I have mine set to humidity of 5. I top off every two days so yes it does seem normal to use that much if you have it set higher. If it was on say like 3 --you could probalbly go 3 days without filling it up. Check your settings. Sometimes too much humidity makes me stuffy. and if it not enough then I have a dry throat--gotta find that sweet spot

Wouldn't know...I clean the humidifier tank every day, so it gets refilled every day. There's always some usage, but it's never been used up *smile*.

67 is the temperature. If that is the only choice you have then likely the humidifier is set for automatic.

The numbers 1 through 6 are different manual humidity selections...6 being the highest.
There is a way to set things so that we can actually use the 1 through 6 numbers as well as temperature for the air coming from the hose.
The amount of water used is going to vary with ambient room humidity and temperature. Some nights you might see more being used and some nights less even without changing anything. I have always had to add water every night. Never ever got 2 nights of use from a tankful of water. I like a lot of added moisture. Some nights I use a full tank and barely have any left in the tank and sometimes I may have 1/4 left.

The "secret setting" is the Climate Control setting located in the Clinical set-up menu: If the tech who sets the machine up is kind and thoughtful, s/he will set the machine up with the Climate Control setting to Patient. That setting allows the patient to fully control the ClimateLine hose if/when they decide to use one: The patient can then choose between Auto and Off for his/herself. In Auto, the machine is supposed to maintain a relative humidity of 80% in the air inside the hose. In Off, the patient can independently choose the appropriate humidity level and the appropriate temperature most that makes him/her most comfortable.

But most techs seem to set up the Clinical menu's Climate Control to Auto, which allows the patient to change the temperature, but not control the humidity level directly. And if the Climate Control setting is set to Auto in the Clinical menu, this also prevents the patient from changing the Climate Control in the Patient menu from Auto to Off.

I have a little humidity gauge near my machine; and after checking it nightly for ambient humidity,
I now know pretty much how much water I will use during the night.
AC or winter heat dries out the air, which makes the H5i very thirsty.

I have mine set on Auto with a temperature of 72 degrees.

I use most of the water in the tank every night & add more distilled water every day.

I wash out my tank only once a week on Sunday.
