Finally changed providers, after being with them for over seven months. I was given a machine and a mask. That was it. No follow up calls, no nothing. When I called the original provider, he wouldn't talk to me, as usual, but he asked the receptionist to see what I wanted. I finally told the receptionist that it was private.
Finally I talked to him. Told him that I was tired of no return phone calls and that I had changed providers. Told him that I never got any feedback or supplies. He acted shocked. "Didn't you get monthly phone calls?" he says. I never even got return calls from you, I reply. I asked him to please pick up the machine. Imagine my surprise when he showed up within three hours to pick up the machine. He had a slip that was to be signed. There was nothing on the slip of paper indicating that he was picking up the machine. My husband signed. So I guess he can come back and say he never got the machine back. Grrrrrrr
I can't believe this national provider is still in business.
As for my new provider, they are in continuous contact and answer any questions I have. How nice to relax and not worry about using a mask that is held together with band aids and paper clips.
Thank goodness for this forum. I was able to get significant help here on my problems. Thank you all.

Re: Just Venting
Glad you were able to take control of your own therapy and make it work for you. Sometimes we do need to "fire" our medical team members. If they are not looking out for our interests, then they are not doing the job we hire them to do. Sure, they can make a profit. I just want to be certain they are active members of my team. If they are not willing to do even a little bit to earn their pay, then there are others willing to step into their place.
The most important thing is that you have assumed you are responsible for your therapy. And you are. You and your family are the ones most concerned with your continued health. Keep at it.
Oh, and feel free to vent away! We all need to do that.
By the way, thank you for attempting to educate your former DME. I doubt he got the message, but you made an honest attempt to explain why he lost your business. That is the fair thing to do. If he fails to learn from it, then you can rest assured that you did what you can to make a difference.
Best wishes on your continued journey in CPAPland ...
