cpap Settings

Post by cold war vet » Thu May 10, 2012 2:35 pm

I just recevived my newer cpap. I have an older one also. The older one setting is 9.0 cmH20. The newer one is set at 14.0 cmH20. The higher setting makes me yarn 5 or 6 times when I get up, and I have a feeling that an elephant has been sitting on my chest. I also feel a bit (just a bit) disoriented as in having trouble focusing. Almost woosy. After the sleep study, I told the therapist how I felt and that when I use my old machine with a 9 setting, I wake up feeling refreshed and I sleep all night. When the machine kicks in at 14, i actually wake up and have to sit on the side of the bed for awhile. Any idea what could be going on?
Thank you all..

We could use a little information if we are to help you...What was your old machine? What is your new machine? Why was the machine set at 14...was it the sleep study? Did your doctor suggest 14? Do you have the Clinical Manual for your new machine?
