New DME, New S9 Autoset, great price

Post by jaybee72 » Mon May 07, 2012 9:35 am

Well, since the old DME was demanding a $200 "upgrade" charge when I sent them a script for a new auto machine, I looked elsewhere. I found another local DME that did not mention any upgrade fees - instead they said your insurance covers this 100% so you have no out of pocket...

She just dropped the new Autoset off at my work, and went over the features. It came with a cleanable tub in the humidifier, which seemed to surprise her. She programmed it while I watched, and didn't act secretive about the setting menu. She doesn't seem to know what all is in there, though, as she told me this machine would not display AHI, leak, etc on the screen. Big surprise there! But, she was nice, and I got the machine I wanted...

Here's the contract pricing:
S9 Autoset - $332.07 (no wonder the other DME didn't want me to use them)
H5I humidifier - $327.12

I cannot believe how much quieter this is over the old machine (with no hose attached; just blowing). Looking forward to seeing how it works!

Additional Comments: Haven't used humidifier in at least 5 years! On the hose since Sept 2007 with less than 10 missed nights

The reason the DME thought the machine would not display data is probably because they usually hand out Escapes. It's unusual for someone to ask for more.
