Post by neverbetter » Tue Mar 14, 2006 5:41 pm

Who named CPAP ? It is so confusing. Who's job was it and why did it stick? Why isnt it called Air Pressure or AP for OSA ? What is negitive airway pressure?

Who: Colin E. Sullivan.
Why: Because he invented it.
Why not called "AP for OSA":.......dunno. maybe because CPAP is shorter.
Negative airway pressure.......would suck the air out of you like a vacuum.

BTW, the first cpaps were actually made from vacuum cleaner motors.

We've come a long way, baby.

continuous positive air pressure; that's what Dr. Colin Sullivan called it when he patented it. personally, i think we should send him some better names to include in his next patents. ideas?

That would make the folks who sell Airway Splinter's, ASSs (Airway Splinter Sellers). Except for our good hosts of course. They are our Courtesy Landlord Airway Splinter Sellers (CLASS).
