Pressure change...how much??
Pressure change...how much??
I need to change the pressure on my machine but I'm just not familiar with how much I need to change it. It is at 10 now. I was told that was low so I'm guessing I need to go higher. Do I go to 11? 10.1? 20? I don't know how this is measured so I'm not sure where to start. Any help is appreciated. I'd like to sleep soon!
Re: Pressure change...how much??
Who told you that your pressure is too low? If you are thinking it will lower yout AHI, you need to check a few things first. How are your leaks? How is your sleep hygiene? Do you use ramp? Do use cflex? Are the events central, obstructive, or hypopnias?

Re: Pressure change...how much??
Why are you changing it? That would make a bit difference in how much change. Usually we recommend a cm at a time. When you're fine tuning you may go less.
Give us more information please. Like all the details - it's a pretty interesting question and we would like to help. You mention sleep- are you having trouble sleeping with the cpap?

Re: Pressure change...how much??
Your profile equipment.....humidifier points to the new PR System One models of machines but your machine is shown as a model long since discontinued. Click on the link to the machine you have chosen. If it doesn't look like what you have in your bedroom...I am thinking you probably have the new model PR System One Remstar Pro CPAP with CFlex (that is how it is listed in the equipment drop down menu).
If you do indeed have a PR System One Pro Cpap then there is software available to use to see just what is going on. You might benefit from a pressure increase and you might not. Check my signature line for software options and links to SleepyHead which works great with the PR S1 SD card.
Should you determine that a pressure increase is warranted (let's evaluate some reports first)... I would suggest only going up in 0.5 cm increments. That is the smallest increment we can use with the Respironics machines.
You may not need much increase (providing the software supports the need)
and also going up in small increments is so much more comfortable and easier to get used to.

Re: Pressure change...how much??
I responded in your other thread in more detail.
We know your AHI is 18 and you are using SleepyHead and you have the wrong machine in your profile.
I sent you a link for the provider manual for the machine you likely have. Please fix your profile to avoid confusion later.
BEFORE you go changing that pressure you need to make sure that your Clear Airway index is not a large portion of that AHI...if it is....we need to talk. Increasing the pressure for predominately Clear Airway events won't help at all and could make them worse. For sure don't increase the pressure if the CA Index is more than 4.
So don't blindly assume you need a pressure increase without evaluating all the specific data.. If you aren't having any Clear Airway events of any great significance..then probably okay but please educate yourself about all this before changing the pressure. If in doubt about what you see on your report...please post an image of the report so we can offer some input. We can't really comment much on one AHI number..there is so much more to all this than the AHI. In your other thread I posted instructions on how to post a report image for member input or ideas.
