Another reason to use an oximeter is so that you will be able to record the desaturations which occur because your mouth pops open on those nights when you forget to re-insert the Smart Card into your machine before going to sleep . . .
. . . as I did last night because I was using the Smart Card to probe through some XML data.
Now, my machine knows that I've been 100% compliant since starting xPAP two months ago, but the Encore Pro data shows red this week. .

Bill

Bill,
I'll bet you'll only do that ONCE (forget to put your card back in the machine).
I did that last summer. One morning I reached over to pull my card out of the machine as I woke up.....it wasn't there......OOPS! You can still go into Encore Pro and "delete" (I forget what the exact term is) that night so it'll still show you as 100% compliant.
Have a good one.

Explanation please, Wulfman.
Does this mean that Encore Pro isn't looking to see four hours every night? It just wants to see four hours for every night that data exists? How much sense does that make?
Just curious, cause I'm not reporting time to anyone else (I don't think).

Bill

IIRC - In Encore Pro you can set the period for which compliance applies
i.e. you can set it from 4 hrs to 2 or 1 - I haven't tried 0
Let me know if 0 works (don't have access to my pc just at the moment as I would try it myself - my own setting is 2 hrs).
Cheers

Hmmm ... I had listed I had the Encore Pro Software/Smartcard with USB connector because that is what my HME is using to track compliance for my insurance company.
I had no idea I could purchase (for < $200 according to the post at the top when I clicked the equipment link) my own USB based reader.
Assuming I remain compliant and my insurance company purchases my equipment, I would like to continue to monitor on my own my therapy. Do these USB interface readers typically come with a smartcard or do you have to purchase those separate? The smartcard I have now is property of my HME.
Thanks for this great thread!

ANSWER: No, you have to purchase them separately, like from CPAP.com.
However, if you purchase one of the Respironics machines that uses a Smart Card then the card should be included with the machine (or at least that's the way Respironics ships the machines). If you've been reading other threads you might have already noticed that not all Respironics machines provide detail data. I think also that cpap.com specifies which machines provide the detail data, and which provide only compliance data.
