Hi,
I picked up a replacement CPAP PRS1 yesterday and am trying out a new mask. Previously I used an Mseries and had very consistent results for AHI ~ 1.6, Mask Leak 22 l/min, 90% Pressure ~ 10 cm H2O. I was curious to see what the results were last night with the new machine and the new mask. I should note that currently I do not have software capable of working with the new machine. I was thinking that eventhough it was one nights worth of data that the on-board information that is viewable should show some indication. When I scanned through it this morning everything was set at 0 for both the 7 day and 30 day averages. I am not sure if the machine won't show a 7 day average until it has 7 days of data or if the data has not been recorded.
If anyone has an idea on whether or not this normal, I would appreciate a resonse. Moving forward I am looking into getting some data viewing software, I have an older copy of Encore Pro (v1.6?) but do not believe it is compatible with the new system. I very rarely look at my data as it is extremely consistent, only when something unusual happens or I am trying out new equipment. I am leaning towards sleepyhead for the amount I anticipate using the software. Thoughts?
Any response is greatly appreciated, Thank you.

Re: PRS1 New User Malfunction or Not?
Greg--
I have the same machine. When I first got the machine and used it I had results after the first night on the screen. I am not an expert on the machine yet, but is it possible that the data collection is turned off on the machine under the clinic menu?

What time of day did you check for the data on the machine? It doesn't show a change on the machine until past noon GMT time. It will show one night in the 7/30 day averages though. Doesn't have to be 7 nights before it shows on the LCD screen.
You are correct Pro 1.8 won't work with the machine.
Software options are explained here with some examples.

SleepyHead is small, quick and quite stable for being still in development stage. Available here.

In the Encore products you will need Encore Viewer 2.0 or Pro 2.4.

Greg
If you would go to Uncle_Bob's signature and pm him, he has all the up to date Encore programs, also if you would go to http://www.apneaboard.com you can get the clinicians instructions.
Good luck

You can also view your data online for free by looking for Onkor or Sleepyhead programs here in the forum search engine.
Unfortunately, there is no way to set the PR S! to report anything BUT 7 and 30 day averages of total AHI and leak rates, but the software and online viewers show the very detailed data.
How did the PR S1 compare comfort-wise to your old series M? They have different algorithms, and some people find it hard to get used to the newer machine.

Re: PRS1 New User Malfunction or Not?
Pugz - I looked at it fairly early in the morning, so it is probably like you suggested too early to post, when I get home I will comfirm for sure.
Janknitz - As for how it went, I think it went well. I didn't have any issues waking up or uncomfrtable breathing or any other way, I felt well rested, when I woke up I made a point to check the current pressure and it was settled in at my minimum 8 cm H2O. Overall didn't really notice a difference other than much quieter. The mask was a nice change in terms of lightness and reduced bulkiness but coming from my previous mask the purge air is slightly different. I had a Soyola mask which seems to diffuse the air much better, slightly quieter and very difficult to actually feel the air coming out. The FX, although better than most in terms of diffusion is worse than what I have become accustomed too, we will see if my wife complains or not
Everyone else thanks for the suggestions on different software, I am aware the 7/30 are not changable but figured they should say something other than 0 after a nights use. Just looking for an indicator that it actually did something last night. It started at 8 and ended at 8 cm H2O and well I was sleeping for the rest of it so I don't know. Like Pugz said it was likely too early to post the information. I won't raise any flags until I can confirm that.
Is there an order of preference amongst the forum for Encore, Sleepyhead or Onkor or do they all offer slightly different things? With my Mseries (my first cpap) I was gung ho and got the encore software, looking at it every day to make sense of the night before. Once the set up was finalized I noticed night after night that it was basically the same data. I think the last time I downloaded and viewed the data was over 2 years ago. At the clinic yesterday when getting my replacement cpap is the first time I have seen the data since then and believe me it hadn't changed. So I doubt that I would need it or use it on a regular basis, that is why I am leaning towards a free software as opposed to purchasing Encore, unless there is some distinct benefit to doing so.

Re: PRS1 New User Malfunction or Not?
Personally, I don't see any great benefit in paying a lot of money to see your very own data that SHOULD have been made available on the screen in the first place (that's where ResMed really got it right!). Use the free options!!!!!!!
I bought Encore Viewer 2.0 back when the online viewers were not available, and I'm not impressed with it. It's difficult to use, you have no choice but to view pages and pages (and more pages as time goes on) of compliance data I could care less about (I already know how much I use it--100%!), and it's difficult to configure. It doesn't include wave form data. It takes a lot of computing power and time. 100 bucks for that??? Don't waste your money.

Re: PRS1 New User Malfunction or Not?
The answer to the original question is NOT, last nights data showed up on both the 7 and 30 day averages. Pugz was right after all.
I did have a chance tonight to load sleepyhead and was just looking at the zoomed in flow charts. Although the overall numbers look good, the breath by breath looks intimidating as I have never looked that closely, appears to be lots of different breathing patterns. I am sure I will figure them out but not tonight. Its sleepy time.
Thanks for your responses and advice.
