The symphony of the human spirit

Post by carbonman » Sun Oct 23, 2011 8:18 am

Today, after I left our second, successful Denver Cpaptalk meeting,
I jumped on my bike for a ride.
I rode down to the Clear Creek trail and headed for Tucker Gulch in Golden.
The fall colors are finally starting to come into their prime.
The wind was blowing and the leaves were being pulled off the trees and
I was, literally, riding through the leaves.
The colors were every where.

Wild sweet peas blooming in the warm fall sun.
Image

Tucker Gulch was quiet and peaceful.

The lower scrub oak it changing on the west side of N. Table Top.
Image

The SW buttress of N. Table Top was like a box of crayons.
Image

...as was the NW buttress of S. Table Top.
Image

The symphony of leaves on the bike path was in full voice.
Image

It was an incredible ride. I felt so alive and euphoric.
The sounds of our cpaptalk gathering were echoing in my head.

I stopped on the way back to watch the leaves being blown off the trees
and touching down in the creek. Their lives changed by a breath of wind,
a new journey in their lives begins.

The people at that cpap meeting are much like the leaves.
We are blown out of our pre-cpap existence into the creek.
.....and like it or not, begin a new journey.

For some time, we drift....uncertain, fearful.....alone.
Image

For some of us, we find cpaptalk and realize that we are not alone.
.....and find a safe haven.
Image

As I watched the leaves finding their way, alone or together,
I realized where my euphoria came from.

"How are you. Good to see you again."
"Nice to meet you."
"I'm doing well."
"This has been a pretty good week, but I still have work to do."
"Wow, how does that work?"
"Where do you get those?"
"I wonder if that would work for me."
"This was fun. Let's do it again."

Camaraderie, compassion, empathy, sharing, togetherness......
I had been listening to the symphony of the human spirit.
"If your therapy is improving your health but you're not doing anything
to see or feel those changes, you'll never know what you're capable of."
I said that.

How fortunate we are to have your voice and eye to remind us of that symphony, carbonman!
Thank you!

I am totally speechless Carbonman, speechless.

Spectacular and beautiful post!
Thinking of quitting CPAP?

No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:

Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

You definitely have a gift...... and you need to put together a book of your thoughts and pictures. This is fantastic!
