Any machine that delivers therapy, is quiet and reliable, is user friendly and fully data capable is a good one to me.
Folks have their manufacturer preferences and that doesn't matter so much as the things I mentioned earlier. Search Janknitz comments on things to know before meeting with DME and comments about fully data capable machines and you can make an informed decision.

The two leaders in the USA, volume-wise, are Philips Respironics (PR) and Resmed. That is NOT to say that they do or do not make the best PAPs. All that says is that they've captured and held the market. To my knowledge they are also the first two developers and manufacturers of PAP devices which could well account for their leading the market.
On the basis of the above:
PR SystemOne Pro
PR SystemOne Auto
PR SystemOne BPAP
PR SystemOne BPAP Auto
Resmed S9 Elite
Resmed S9 AutoSet
Resmed S9 VPAP
Resmed S9 VPAP auto
Two other manufacturer's PAPs well-worth considering:
DeVilbiss
Fisher & Paykel
All of the above offer integrated heated humidifiers w/their PAPs. Fisher & Paykel makes THE best stand alone heated humidifier, the HC 150.

However I wouldn't go with a F&P machine... they don't have any form of software available for patients.
Re: Time for new machine
When I was at 17 and my doc wanted to raise it to 18 I asked for a bipap and got it. I suggest that at 19 you insist on a bipap.mwesthefer wrote:Had do no a new sleep study for new insurance, just as i remembered it!!!Anyways i'm at 19cm and my dr wrote it for cpap unit but if 20 is max wondering if i need a bipap so i sent a message to my dr and ill see what comes of that.So my real question is if i get a cpap heated what machine is best ?

A bipap is the ultimate in exhale relief. You won't be sorry.
If your doc hesitates to order a bipap you have 2 choices -
1. Ask for a trial
2. Find another doc who will.
