Nobody Can top Me!!

Post by Sheriff Buford » Wed Aug 10, 2011 6:19 am

One night wondering why I wasn't getting enough air..... I realized at 1:00 am that I hadn't turned the machine on....

I would like to hear from others the foolish things they've done. Lighten up the day... make us smile...

I spent two nights on the road with the zzzPAP travel machine, and had put the little o-ring on the wrong end of the hose outlet. Result: I gave the hotel nightstand a WONDERFUL dose of therapy. Me? Not so much.

Someone could probably tell about the time he fought his LT nasal pillows all night trying to get a good seal and didn't discover until morning that he had put his pillows in 180 degrees backward, but I doubt he'll admit to such a thing in public in order to protect his virtually untarnished reputation on this board.

Forgot to turn machine on: once
Forgot to set 'mask type': 3 nights in a row.
Nearly tore the end off the hose with my bare hands : twice
Forgot to add water: maybe twice.

Sheriff, I think you had another thread similar to this one and I posted my pre-CPAP story of when I was looking for my sunglasses. I never go anywhere without them. I looked and looked and looked and looked. I checked everywhere, bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, upstairs, downstairs. Out to the truck and....nope, not in the truck. Back to the house, and looked again. Nothing.

After what seemed like 20 minutes, I gave up and decided I would buy a new $10 pair (this is why I won't spend $150 on sunglasses). Before leaving, I went to the bathroom, and afterward when I washed my hands and looked in the mirror: I was wearing them.
Thinking of quitting CPAP?

No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:

Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

I went the compete night with the water container on the counter. When I opened the humidifier door in the morning the water container wasn't there. Much to my surprise it was still full on the counter.
The really odd part of this situation is to my knowledge it seemed to be working properly all night.

Woke up one night (middle of the night) found the hose pulled off the HH outlet. Must have been a Hell of a dream. Jim

First (and ONLY) time I put the Swift FX mask on in the dark....couldn't figure out why the nasal cushions just didn't feel right, but too tired to take it off and start over. Found out in the morning that I had the mask on upside down. Now I use a flashlight to make sure I am putting it on correctly, because hubby is usually already asleep when I am ready to go to sleep.

Only been using for a month, so no silly things so far. However, I'll keep this thread close by... have a feeling I'll have a few to share before long.

I spent a week wondering why my AHI numbers were rising so rapidly. In desparation, I took out all instructions and re-read everything. Seems I had begun to put on my mask upside down for no obvious reason. Once I began to use my mask properly, the numbers dropped as rapidly as they had risen!!!
