Remstar Plus and Heated Sleep Zone (Aussie) tube

Post by SiriusBright » Mon Jan 23, 2006 8:26 pm

I just ordered the Aussie heated tube from Sleep Zone (the one that's listed for "Respironics" and may require a separate power adapter) and was wondering if it's possible to plug it directly into the back of my Remstar Plus CPAP machine? I noticed there's two connections in the back of the Remstar Plus other than the power for the heated humidifier. One looks like a download port for software, the other looks like a 12v or similar power hole. Can the Aussie heated hose be plugged in directly to this hole, or do I need to purchase a separate power supply from Radio Shack?

If I can plug the hose directly into the Remstar Plus, is there a risk of overheating or damage to the CPAP machine?

Thanks a bunch!

DC Power

I just realized after the post that the "hole" I was referring to, is actually the DC power inlet.

Anyhow, any advice that anyone has for the Aussie tube would be greatly appreciated. I received notice that mine is being shipped today!

Thanks,

I believe that other port is where you would plug the PAP unit into a car lighter for 12VDC operation. You will need to purchase a power adapter from Radio Shack for your Aussie heated hose. Just make sure to purchase the right adapter.

Adapter

Thanks for the reply. I believe you are correct, I just consulted my Remstar Manual and indeed it is the car adapter 12v port.

BTW, I like your screenname, I always joke w/ my wife that I'm "Darth Vader". I just started therapy a month ago, and am still getting adjusted.

SHhhh-huuhh..LOL

Congratulations on the decision to go with the heated tube! I just ordered mine as well, and got the email yesterday that it was being shipped. Talk about some great customer service! I love that the email reply includes an attachment explaining which adapter is needed (including the Radio Shack product number). I printed it out to take to the store with me, so there'll be no mistakes. I can't wait to get mine, and hope you'll let us know how you like yours.
