using encore software and reader

Post by alex » Thu Jan 12, 2006 3:52 pm

Hi, I'm just starting with encore software and reader. I had no problems installing and downloading data from the smart card but when I tried to put the card back in the Respironics CPAP it started beeping which probably means that I need to do something with the card before putting it back. I'm not sure if I should try to erase the data on the card because I've heard that it may contain some CPAP settings data to control the CPAP. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Alex,

Welcome to the forum.

That can happen occasionally. Be sure the blue side of the card is facing "UP". Also, sometimes they may not go in exactly right on the first attempt......try it again. I also assume your machine is not ON, either, when you're trying to put it in.
Other than that, it will do one little beep (when you put it in or take it out) and that should be it.....the one beep IS normal. If it continues to beep.....that's not normal. Also, you shouldn't have to do anything with the card (like erasing data).

Good luck,

also be sure the end with the little hole is toward the outside, not in.

(you are to be forgiven. of the four possible ways to insert the card, only one is right, three are wrong. I've tried a few myself, especially in the dark. the beep codes help.)

It beeps? Ive not heard mine beep. But then, I can't hear high frequencies either, as my hearing rolls off at 2 kHz.
. . . the beep codes help.
Out of curiosity how many differenct beep codes are there?

Bill

On my Respironics there is one short beep when I put the card all the way in in, no matter which way. If it's in wrong (upside-down, wrong-end-first, upside-down-and-wrong-end-first) it does a series of intermittent beeps without end until I take the card out.

I don't have a card reader, but have had the beeping. It may just need to be reinserted, but it may mean that the card needs replaced. Mine was giving me an error warning in the display window.

I checked my machine this morning and heard no beeps, although I did get a C-1 error message in the display when I inserted the card incorrectly.

I wonder if the alarm is turned off somehow. I don't recall that I ever adjusted an alarm function, so maybe I should look in the manual and check for that.

Bill
