Looking at the first dozen or so "1" reviews on the Sears site there were several that clearly state they charged before using. Several others say they used it for a period and then it failed to take a charge. There is only one or two where you might guess that possibly they misused the device.

Frankly Guest, you're sounding more like a troll than an actual CPAP user. When are you going to stop hiding and offer something useful?

I don't think so - my first post only pointed out the number unfavorable reviews and the fact that it isn't a very large and probably can't run a humidifier. All easily confirmed undeniable facts. The rest is simply reactions to your comments. You, on the other hand, have essentially claimed that 100 or so reviewers are complete idiots who didn't understand that a battery must be charged before its use. Or that they are part of some bizarre conspiracy to discredit a perfect product. How is that not judgmental?

Actually there is one person who is pleased, but he only actually ran it a few nights. And he only only vague claims about how long the battery actually lasted. And he stopped posting a few years ago, so we can't ask him to clarify a few points. The other poster seems pleased with his battery (a different unit) but his experience shows some limitations of this type of device.
And I'll freely admit that while a third of the reviews were negative, there was a greater number of favorable reviews, so obviously lots of people like it. But I don't like to buy products, especially emergency backups that won't be tested until sometime in the future when a third of the reviewers say it might crap out when its needed.

You can keep digging the hole deeper if you must. But I'd rather you did something useful, like buy the battery, charge it up, run it til its discharged, rinse, repeat, and then report back.

What's your problem? I read many of the posts; I read the specs on the product; I read many of the reviews. Lots of people comment on products they don't own. You've been commenting on this and as far as we know you don't even have a CPAP. Getting this worked up about something that you apparently know nothing about seems "nts" to me.

I never claimed to have any specific knowledge about this particular device. I do have considerably specific knowledge about powering small devices, including CPAPs, on batteries since I've spent a month or two every year living "off-grid" on battery power for the last twenty years. I do know how to read specs, and I know what it means to have 24 Amps-hours of juice in an AGM battery.

Yes, you're right: GumbyCT has the Sears, SleepyCPAP said he had the Diehard, which I confused with the Duracell, but is actually from Sears. But he confirmed my claim that its small and said it couldn't charge enough during the day to recover from a nights use. Still no evidence for your claim it can power a humidifier for two nights. (Of course, this requires knowing what pump you plan to power and your haven't shared that with us.)

And remember, in spite of your accusations, I never said this was a bad device, only that I was skeptical of some of the claims, was concerned about the large number of negative reviews, and personally preferred to use a different approach, based on a much larger battery.

Get ready for the next power outage.

DieHard Platinum Portable Power 1150 is on sale... appears to have two diff prices not sure what the diff is
one @ $80 another @$100. Since I can't post a link just search Sears dot com for "DieHard Platinum Portable Power 1150".

I would suggest having two so you can charge one while using the other. Or more if you are camping away from power. You don't see these on sale often.

The ResMed S9 machines have a 3 pin connector. Two of the pins are the 24V supply, but the third pin has some sort of signal on it, and the blower may not work if you don't have the right signal on this pin.

Someone hooked it up to a scope and the signal had some sort of digital pulses on it, so apparently, you're locked into authentic ResMed power supplies or converters.

I realize this is an old thread, but I keep running across these old discussions and finding I have suggestions or better info to offer

I use one in a 750 VA capacity. The nice thing with these models is they completely regenerate the incoming AC mains to a true sine wave. Not all ups generate true sine wave output but a stepped approximation of a sine wave more akin to a square wave and power transformers tend not to like that kind of thing.

Could I ask one more question? Does anybody gamble?
