Hi,
Need help, I have a remstar plus c-flex c-pap machine, can anyone tell me what is the best machine to have? I'm new at this. thank you for your help.
What is the best c-Pap machine?
Re: What is the best c-Pap machine?
How long have you had this Respironics Plus CPAP? Are you looking to replace it? Are you checking to make sure you were provided w/a "good" CPAP?
The Respironics Plus will provide as good therapy as a top of the line model - but it is a bottom of the line model in that no Respironics device w/Plus in its model name is capable of providing any more than compliance date despite it provides good therapy.
The current top of the line Respironics model would be the PR SystemOne Auto w/A-Flex. It is a fully data capable APAP that can be run in either straight CPAP mode or in auto-titrating mode.
But that doesn't necessarily make the PR S1 Auto the BEST CPAP machine.
Other top of the line CPAPs would be:
Resmed S9 AutoSet
DeVilbiss IntelliPAP Auto
Fisher & Paykel ICON Auto
I doubt you could go wrong w/anyone of these devices. However, IF your current Respironics Plus is an M Series Plus its integrated humidifier is useless to any of the above models. If your current Respironics Plus is the PR SystemOne Plus then its integrated humidifier could be used w/the PR S1 Auto. Insurances generally pay upfront for all the accessories including humidifier but usually purchase the xPAP on some form of rent to own basis of from 3 to 13 months duration. Unfortunately, the integrated humidifiers are not interchangeable amongst the various brands.

Re: What is the best c-Pap machine?
Tough question! It's like asking who would make the best spouse. I only recently realized that I could even have a choice of machines. The DME has always made that choice; until this year.
The key is to research all you can and decide what you want.

Re: What is the best c-Pap machine?
Personally, I think Resmed makes the best masks.
As far as machines, I used to think Resmed made the best machines as well. Not now, I believe Phillips Respironics is making the machines "old school" style still and I hope they dont change.
Fisher and Paykel makes a killer humidifier...it takes some work setting it up, you will probably need a higher pressure on it because of the longer hoses and all. But the Fisher and Paykel humidifier REALLY makes the air humid. Like a summer day in South Florida, the air is wet and balmy feeling coming out of the hose attached to a F & P humidifier.

From another post in another thread Godspeed77 says
Hi,
I have a remstar plus c-flex, how can I get a better machine from my health care provide? I have had this machine for 1 year. thank you
So apparently new to data maybe but not new to cpap. Were you thinking about better meaning data capable? I doubt you can get the DME to do anything after this length of time unless the doctor were to decide you had a medical need for a different type of machine than straight cpap.
If money permits you could check out cpapauction or something similar for another machine.
