Keeping in mind what StevenXXXX brought up: do you use an electric blanket, an electric warming pad or any sort of heating element on your bed that could be having an effect on your climateline hose thermostat?

Note about running dry: When mine runs dry, I can smell a sickly sweet plastic vapor. It's bad enough that it wakes me up. Yes, the bottom of the tank is stainless steel, but the interior is coated with a thin layer of very durable plastic that contains BPA - just like the interior of most canned food goods. To me, this suggests the tank is probably outgassing. These tanks do contain BPA. (I asked ResMed.) Allowing them to heat and dry to that point is probably very unhealthy to breathe. The smell disappears immediately when I wash out and fill the tank with fresh water. While a lot of us don't clean our tanks every night, I would encourage making sure you have enough water actually in the tank to get you through the night without drying out.

Steven,
Thanks. A malfunction certainly makes more sense than anything.

Dream Diver,
No emf's in bed with us!
I kind of wonder if I've already cooked out and inhaled any gas that could be released! I've probably run it dry for over 40 hours total time!
But, better safe than sorry, I'll set a recurring 3 day alarm to keep me on the straight and narrow!

Yes.
I probably wash my tank about once a month, if that. By I take it out of the machine every morning, and add water every evening.

Just to give a Climateline "fault" problem update: My S9 and Climateline are 4 weeks old. This am I got "heated tube fault / replace tube" error message. Humidifier tank was not empty - still 1/2 full this am. Running temp at 72 degrees, bedroom is 65 degrees. Using the climateline default program where temp and humidity are controlled together. I happened to have an "extra" S9 setup at home which was to be picked up by dme.
I connected the other h5i to my s9 and it worked ok so cpap.com is assuming that the problem is in the humidifier and not in the Climateline tube. Returning both h5i and climateline tubine to cpap.com under warranty. I'll let you know what happens. Just thought I'd post this so if others are having further problems it can be noted here. Anyone else have something similar going on?

The Goodmans will treat you right. Here's hoping your new humidifier will fix the problem.
