How to post...Specifically Quoting on partial comments

Post by atruvirgo » Tue Jan 18, 2011 11:26 pm

I am having trouble using the quotes on a partial posting. I can get it to quote an entire post but, not just an excerpt. Can someone give me a hint

One way is to go ahead and make the entire post be quoted in the message you are writing. Then, drag your mouse over the words/sentences you want to get rid of in the quote....highlighting and deleting everything you don't want to include.

After you get rid of the parts that way, all that will be remaining is what you actually want to have appear -- quoted in your post.

Perfect explaination. Just make sure that you maintain the information between the [ and the ] both at the beginning and at the end of the quote. The beginning one should be [qu...] and the ending one should be [/qu...] (I can't put the actual words in there)

There can be quotes within quotes, so it can get a little tricky sometimes. Just make sure your [qu...] and [/qu...] are at the beginning and the end.

Whenever I use quotes, I always "Preview" my post before I "Submit" it. That way I can make sure it looks right.

another way is to hit "post reply". Then scroll to the post that contains the snippet you want to quote. Highlight the snippet. Then hit the "quote" button on that particular post. In your draft field, you will see:
[...quote="author"] snippet [.../quote]

for example:
[...quote="Slinky"]Comments Made 55 Years Ago:[.../quote]

Good way to do it, snug!

And good tip about previewing the result before hitting "submit", jbn!

Thank you oh wise ones!!! I have printed the instructions. Does anyone have a problem putting too much info in the post. After a while it starts skipping back to the top of my post.
