heated tubing

Hi all,

I think I am going to purchase the climate line tube for the s9. With a heated cord do you have to keep the machine lower or tube raised? Also, I have the s9 escape. It's not one of the fancier ones. It is an s9 so I am assuming it takes the climate line but I just wanted to verify. Oh and do you think insurance will cover an accessory like this?

My machine is on my night table, which is about level with the bed, and there is no issue with using the ClimateLine tubing.

It will work with the Escape. All of the S9 models are ClimateLine capable.

My insurance wouldn't cover it, but the hose is only $50.00, so was a worthy expense in my eyes.

yes I think it is worth it to but i figured if insurance would cover it then bonus:). I have heard about problems with the durability. Have you had any issues?

I read a lot about the flimsiness of the climateline, so when I got mine I wrapped the ends near the attachments in silicon tape to give them extra strength if I tug on it during the night. So far... no problems.

I've had no issues with mine so far.

Still working just like day one.

I also have climateline hose. No issues at all. I am on my original hose. My machine is level with my head on my nightstand.

My climateline stopped working last night exactly 2 months and 2 days after I hooked it up. Up until then it worked perfectly. I was very careful with it and treated it as carefully as I could because I had heard about durability issues. I'll have to check with CPAP.com to see if it is still under warranty.

About 2 hrs. after I went to sleep I awoke with rainout in the mask and a lot of water in the hose. I took the hose off and couldn't notice any holes or other damage. I put my spare climateline hose on and it worked perfectly. I hope the next one lasts more than 2 months.

I'm sorry to hear about your hose. I am hoping mine lasts. I am due a new hose this month. I did put a hose cover on my hose..and have one of those velcro hose management clips on the outside of that. I clip mine to the bottom the mattress so I can pull on it in my sleep.

Be aware that if you let your humidifier tank run dry the S9 will shut off and generate a message that says something like "Climateline hose failure. Replace hose." After the unit cools down, the error message goes away.

I've used the Climate Line hose from the start. My insurance covers a new heated hose every 3 months. You may find that your insurance covers it.

What I would watch is that your hose does not go directly into the pillow or mattress with the swivel on your mask when you roll from side to side in bed. If for example your swivel goes to the left as you turn to lay on your left side, your pillow will squash the hose at a 90 degree angle from the hose end to support the weight of your head. My theory is that this is one of the factors that is causing so many of the hose failures. My S9 sits on my bedside chest at about the same height as my bed. From the back of the humidifier I use the CozyHose Boss to attach my hose to the wall over my headboard. This way the hose swivel adapter on the mask is usually pointing up towards the top of my head and my hose never gets tangled as I roll from side to side.

At the opposite end of the hose you want to avoid directly pulling the climate line tubing at the back of the humidifier towards your bed which causes the tube to be at a 90 degree angle from the hose end at the humidifier. A right angle fitting won't work since there is an electrical connection at this end of the hose as you are connecting it in place. Your CozyHose Boss or something similar will avoid the constant tugging against the back of your S9. Your hose should last about 6-9 months. You may find that your insurance covers a new one every 3 months, so you will accumulate a backup of a couple of hoses in the first year or so that will allow you to slow down on ordering later.

Thank you for your post. I'll keep that in mind but I had to smile when I read it because, even though I like the S9 I always wonder whether or not the very intelligent engineers who developed it have sleep apnea and if they ever used this machine.

Why does the hose come out of the back of the machine. I have the hose aiming toward me when I am in bed so it will give me a little more length when I turn over, etc..

If I have the back of the machine toward me then I can't read what the little message says because it is upside down.

If I get out of bed to see what it says I can't read it because I have my machine about 1 foot off the floor and the font is too small to see so I have to get down on my hands and knees to see what the damn message says. Why didn't they make the font larger. There's plenty of room for it.

WOW, I feel better already and I didn't even have to pay an analyst.

LOL! I have only used my new S9 Auto for about a week now--but wondered these things from day one---Hmmmmmmmmmmm
