Sleep Sound Machines

I find that the cycling operation of my bipap makes it difficult for me to fall asleep. Have you successfully used a sleep sound machine to mask the sounds from your bipap/cpap? If you have tinnitus, has the sleep sound machine also helped with that? If so, is there a machine that you would recommend? Thank you.

Hubby and I have used a box fan for years. We've tried various machines with different sounds, but the fan's constant 'white' noise works best for both of us.
My CPAP doesn't make any noise, and I'm a 3-week newbie at this, but we like the fan for blocking out surround sounds and air movement.

I have a couple of electronic sound machines with several choices of sound (wind, rain, surf, white noise, etc.) but much prefer a cheap 12-inch fan that I use every night.

One thing that is a big help with machine noise is to place the machine a foot or so below the level of the bed. If you use the humidifier this also helps to drain rainout back into the tank.

I have the box fan in the room and it's great in the summer, but it makes the room a bit too cold at this time of the year.
Thanks for the suggestion on moving the machine below the level of the bed. I'll certainly give that a try.

I have a fan running. I tried the first two nights without the fan running as the night temps are dropping here. One night was fine the other night I pulled the mask off after 2 hrs.

So I listened to my RT, took hot shower, took a sleeping pill, turned on the fan and slept the whole night with my mask on.

I say go for the low tech approach on this one...fan! lol

but the ones I like best are called unwind and rejuvenate.
They are these off the wall kind of sounds that I find very relaxing.

I sometimes have Jeffrey Thompson's music playing while at the computer and it is quite relaxing. I never tried it while sleeping. I wonder if this part is science or hype, "coaxing your brain to "match" these frequencies and enter healthier states of repose"?

Yes, Sleep Mate is the best white noise (fan-like) mechanical machine made. Durable, small and travels well. It lasts a long time so the price is inexpensive. Make sure you get the one with two speeds.

Yes, the type Roster posted is THE one you want to get. I didn't know they now sell it at Walmart. I have bought a few over the years. I have one that can run on a quieter or a louder setting, and I like the louder one. So check the actual website for differences between models.

Edited to add: The model Roster posted shows that it has two levels of sound--the I and the II on the button.

I don't think WalMart has it in stores, only internet.

We tried a couple of the cheaper ones you could get at various times at walgreens, But ditched them cause they always sound to fake for us. My other half has tinnitus and sleeps best to the sound of thunderstorms, Me I have my fan which is just as quiet as my system one, But the fan for me isn't for sound. I have to have air movement.. But since BF's computer is in the bedroom it was just easier to rip some nature CD's and set up a thunderstorm playlist he plays each night in winamp. For him its a MUST Have to help him sleep with the tinnitus. But hes also gotten hooked on the sound of my CPAP lol. Well the older ones this current one is soooo quiet.

My daughter uses a Fan in her room for the noise. But now that its getting cooler I might see if i can find one of the old white noise alarm/clock combos we have around here stashed someplace.
