Visit with sleep Dr.

Post by msla » Sun Oct 24, 2010 5:53 pm

Last summer I made an appointment with the sleep Dr. that scored my study in 2003. The refering ENT had retired. At that appointment his RN/PA spent 15-20 minutes with me and then I went in to see the Dr for 20-30 minutes. He reissued the perscription and I replaced my 7 year old CPAP box with a S9 Auto. I now am going in to see him tomorrow with the data from Aug-Oct. It will be interesting to hear what he has to say. I have to say that, so far, I have only good vibes.

I had a good visit. I saw the Nurse and then the RT. I am 100% compliant (8 hrs/day) with efficatious treatment. I did not have any serious questions to answer. They want me to come in in 6 months to check the readings again. I did volunteer to talk with any of their sleep apnea patients who might want to visit with another patient, who is having good results, and they noted that. We do not have any mutual support group such as AWAKE in my area.

S9 is nice and quiet. I wish they had a direct connection to a battery. However I have my old machine and a battery to use if I need to.

The Dr that runs the Sleep center is a psychiatist with a certification from AASM and ABSM. Nice, caring and wanting the patients to do well.

Morning Rolf:
I found out what we were doing wrong. I looked at the fitting video again and found that I didn't have the straps loose enough, loosened them off to nearly falling off and it fits my odd shaped noodle perfect. I also ordered the cradle for it from cpap.com and am anxiously awaiting delivery. I am using the medium pillow with no leaks but find (just like my swift) if I use the pillows too many days in a row, the pillows blow too hard in my left nare and tend to start a day long sneezing fit. Hence the order for the cradle, nothing goes into your nose, it just sits on the edge. I have an oddball nose where the left side of my bone structure sits a bit too much to the left and thats where the pillow blows consistantly.........crap..might as well admit it I have crooked nose lol.
Great to talk to you again, keep up the good work.
Cheers
