Hybrid Exhalation vents-where are they?

Post by dreamchaser » Tue Sep 28, 2010 4:06 pm

I recently purchased a Hybrid FFM but I'm having trouble wearing this mask for therapy.
When I lay down and turn on my machine I feel like I can't catch my breath. I have no trouble with my Quattro.
I'm wondering where the exhalation vents are on the Hybrid. There are five or six tiny indentations, not much bigger than a pin hole
on the front of the mask but there doesn't seem to be any air coming from them. The only place the air is felt is at the anti-axphyxiation
area on the elbow.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Jan

across the top of the hard part... they come straight out between the oxygen ports.

I have purchased plastic items that were supposed to have holes (not a mask); and appeared to, but the holes were
not punched/machined all the way through.
Since this was garden stuff, I just drilled them out.
If your mask does not have holes all the way through, like it should, they will no doubt exchange it.

When the pressure is coming thru the hose into the mask, the flap in the anti-suffocation valve should seal closed so no air escapes that way (should only be open when the pressure is below 3). If you don't hear the valve close with a sound like "phtat," briefly place a finger over it so it closes. The air should then be exiting via the ventilation holes and yes, they are tiny holes.

Have a look at the flapper valve on the anti-asphyxiation port. It should close when you are wearing the mask and the machine is on. Your mask's valve may be damaged.
