Respironics – problems with international shipping

Post by wtr » Wed Aug 11, 2010 4:36 am

Many webshops state that Respironics prohibits exporting their machines outside US.
I would like to hear experiences from international buyers.
Where did you buy Respironics CPAP, how it was shipped to your country...

Is it possible to ship it using services like http://www.shipito.com/ ?

I am in Canada. I bought a PR System One auto (Respironics) from cpap.com and it was shipped via the Postal Service. No problems.

Resmed prohibits shipping outside the US by online suppliers but not the other manufacturers, as far as I know.

But I noticed the same message last week when I was checking out an Everest because I was thinking about camping next year and it is half the price on cpapdotcom then anywhere in Canada.

Do you mean that cpap.com will not ship the Everest to Canada?

I just wnt through the order process and it gave me a shipping cost to my address in Canada. I didn't proceed with the order because I didn't want the machine but wanted to see if cpap.com would ship it to Canada. I think the shipping calculation that came up, to my address, was $24.00.

I saw no indication that the Everest would not be shipped to Canada. Did you try and get an email that it was not possible to ship it to Canada?

If it's Resmed it won't be sent. If it's anything else I'm sure it will, but you should still ask.

they have different prices in different parts of the worlds based on what people can afford to pay in different parts of the worlds and how liberal insurance systems are, so they don't want connections like that to happen

exactly like drug companies selling the same medication in Canada by different price than USA (much cheaper because of the corruption of the lobby system in USA) and they don't want this connection to happen .

it is all a very nasty game which is if they can get more money from one area, then they will do everything to disconnect it from the rest.

Not only Respironics machines: also the software. I tried shipping EncoreViewer from US to Europe but found only one webshop that allowed it. They charged $65 shipping costs only for 1 CD. I was lucky to find a friendly forum member that helped me out.
