What do you know about Invacare & Aeiomed?

Post by dvejr » Fri Jul 09, 2010 5:51 pm

I recently ordered an Aeiomed Headrest nasal pillow interface and head gear from my DME. They sent me what appears to be the same product, but packaged and labeled as an Invacare Twilight ISP2500.

Does one company manufacture for the other? Do they both currently sell the same product? Have I been given a very old unused product from the back shelf of the DME's warehouse?

The Invacare website makes no mention of such a product as a Twilight nasal pillow ISP2500 though they appear to still sell a nasal mask.

Does anyone know anything about the history of, and relationship between, Invacare and Aeiomed?

Doug

Both the company and the mask have had name changes. I believe that the mask had a third name, too.

If you read the description of the Headrest on cpap.com, you'll see it referred to as the Twilight. Guess they can't keep up.

The Twilight NP is the older name for the mask. You may have gotten an old mask. It has been the Headrest for a long time.

Sounds to me like you received some very "old inventory". Something left over that no one else wanted?

My DME tried to pass off "Innomed NAII" Nasal Prongs to me as Aeiomed Headrest Nasal Pillows. She said they were the same thing = LMAO - I already had the Headrest and wanted replacement so I knew the difference. Yea they both deliver air to the nose - don't they?

I just couldn't stand those tubes in my nose. Which reminds me, I know a guy who uses O2 tubing stuffed in his nostrils and swears by it - won't even try anything else.

Do with it what you will. They will prob still work - your replacements will prob just be packaged differently.

No mask has had as many name changes as that one.
It is made by Aeiomed - always has been.

Names, in chronological order - (corrections are welcome)
Aura
Headrest
Invacare Twilight Nasal Pillows (that's what NP stands for)
Headrest (2nd time around).

I don't remember when Invacares stopped handling the Headrest -- but I'd say 2 years ago at least.

It's a great mask by the way!

Completely OT but I spent about 2 hrs with United Healthcare/Oxford to get 'exceptions authorization' because can't find a DME in the greater NY area that carries the aeiomed headrest. Hopefully it will be approved so that I can get reimbursed for purchasing the Headrest and replacement pillows from cpap.com.

And boooooooooo to Aeiomed for misleading consumers - their dealer locator list is older than Abe Lincoln. I spoke with customer service twice, and they finally admitted they don't have any DMEs' in CT or NY - yet there are over 30 listed on their website! My DME is listed as the only CT dealer but I know for sure they don't and will never carry Aeiomed anymore
