Blowing hot air
Has anyone else noticed that the machines blow out hot air? I mean that the bipap produces a significant increase in the temperature of the air blowing out of it, so much as to warm the hose, and the mask. Now that it's summertime, I never use the humidifier. Also, if I go to sleep with it >75 in my room, I quickly wake up very hot and with hot air blowing in my face, which I hate. Even this morning I experienced this. I have to put the AC down to about 72 to make it tolerable. Anyone else experience this?
I have an Auto 25, brand new, and a Quattro. My pressure is 21/17 and I have a bipap, not auto setting.

Try using your HH in passive mode (w/out heat). The air flow over the cool water will ... well, cool it down a bit.

HH? Holy Heck? HumidiHier? I don't get it. And what's passive mode?

HH = Heated Humidifier (You have one, don't you?)profoundapena wrote:HH? Holy Heck? HumidiHier? I don't get it. And what's passive mode?
Passive/Passover mode is putting water in your (XPAP) humidifier tank but with no heat setting. The air passes over the water and picks up some humidity but the air is cool when it comes out in the mask.
I've been using this method since I started. I even keep my distilled water in the refrigerator. (in smaller containers)

Re: Blowing hot air
You have the units electronics running (Heat), when you compress air it gives off (Heat). Passing it over unheated water cools it a little (Very Little) but the air being moist feels hotter than dry air.

With the heat wave we've been having I've been tempted to fill the humidifier pan with ice cubes ...
