Interesting article on Apap vs. cpap

Post by Jason1975 » Sat Jun 12, 2010 4:08 pm

Some of you have probably read this before or maybe it has even been posted on this website, but I ran across this article. http://www.journalsleep.org/Articles/250204.pdf

It seemed quite interesting to me.

Very interesting read. I skimmed over it and found several interesting points, reading in detail would require my machine nearby

I didn't read enough of it to try to find a "conclusion", but I did notice that it went back to 2002 (or before). Lots of things have changed since then......(including the APAP firmware and algorithms in some brands).
I've found that most of those studies are written to fit the results to what their preconceived notions are. Most of them involved Autos running at the wide-open range, so they are not nearly as effective as titrated CPAP pressure settings.
Consequently, I put very little faith in what they have to say.

Sorry, I did not realize it was that old.
