Hello,
I have been on cpap and for the last two years auto bipap for about six years now. I use it every night withou fail.
Over the last year or so I have been noticing changes that I can't figure out. I am 59 years old male about 75 lbs overweight, but I have lost around 30lbs in the last six months going low carb.
Around a year ago I started waking daily between 4:30-5:00 every day. It really don't matter what time I go to bed.
Most nights I am in bed between 9-10. I wake most morning feeling as if I slept well. However I am tired all the time. I eat my lunch, brought from home, under a shade tree sitting in my car listening to the radio. I can't stay awake, I will fall into a deep sleep and wakeup sometimes almost dumfounded, confused for a moment or two. I've tried different masks and I don't thin that is the issue. My family doctor that I see every two months for diebetes recommended tylonal pm which helps to sleep better but I awake drowsy, still at the same time. I need opinions, because I keep getting more tired all the time.
Thanks,
Don

Has your thyroid been checked? Sounds like something different is happening.

What machine(s)?
Are they data-capable?
If so, do you have software to monitor your therapy?
What mask(s)? If it's a nasal mask, is your therapy air leaking out your mouth? (from your description, this is my suspicion)
What pressure(s) are you using?
Den
(5) REMstar Autos w/C-Flex & (6) REMstar Pro 2 CPAPs w/C-Flex - Pressure Setting = 14 cm.

Re: I need some help, time for another study?
I agree with Wulfman - you said you don't think it's the masks, but until you experiment, try taping for a couple of nights, you really can't know what goes on once you're asleep. And I'm not sure a sleeping pill is the answer for someone with OSA except in cases where they cannot fall asleep to begin with. Many of us find we wake earlier than we used to - it also happens with age for most people - and you might just not need more hours, but better ones, so at least try the tape and see how it goes. What pressure(s) are you at?
