Reading a smart card
Reading a smart card
I have a Remstar Auto CPAP machine with a smart card. I have never tried to read the smart card (I don't have a device or software to do so) I am thinking that I may need to make some adjustments to the amount of pressure I am using. How should I proceed. That is, how can I read the card and how can I (if possible) analyze what it is saying

Re: Reading a smart card
If your machine is the Respironics auto classic model or the M Series auto, you can purchase Encore Viewer 1.0 or Encore Viewer 2.0 from cpap.com. Along with that, you will need the Infineer Smart Card Reader, aslo available from cpap.com - perhaps in a discount bundle.
If your machine is the newer PR System One auto, then you have to use Encore Viewer 2.0. If you have the System one, the card is just a regular SD card and it can be read with any memory card reader. Cpap.com does have a discount bundle with Encore Viewer 2.0 and a memory card reader, should you not have one.
This software will give you a detailed look at your sleep data and you can see when and how many events (apneas, hypopneas, etc) you are having. There is more information, with the software, than you will get on your machine's LCD screen and it is somewhat more accurate.
Using the software is the only way to ge the detailed data, unless you want to take your card to your DME. They should be able to print out the detailed data for you and help with machine adjsutments. A lot of people here have software so that they can see the details of their sleep every day if they wish and make their own machine adjustments.
People here can help you interpret what the data means. This detailed data will help you to make more educated and helpful changes to your machine settings to give you better therapy.
I see Wulfman has added some more info!
