It supports something my doctor told me -- that OSA isn't caused by obesity, as so many people seem to believe. However, if you have OSA, being overweight or obese can make your symptoms worse.

Very interesting! I know a guy who had that operation and once told he didn't need the machine any more, I hope for him that was true.

My respiratory therapist had told me not to expect a great difference on my OSA if I loss weight, although it could worsen the symptoms if I get more weight. Now I think she was right. This lady has been working with OSA patients for I think a good 10 years, she is very competent.

Do you have knowledge about how aging (menopause) affects the OSA incidence on women? I haven't find anything about although I already read OSA is more prevalent on older women (lets say 45 and up).

Obesity is caused by hormonal disorders ... OSA is caused by genetic disorders. They are linked in that obesity worsens OSA and OSA worsens hormonal disregulation (ie. obesity, diabetes, CVD, and a host of other degenerative conditions) in a positive feedback cycle.
