New Mirage FX

Post by akeegan » Thu Mar 04, 2010 2:54 pm

I have some questions about the new ResMed Mirage FX you might be able to answer for me. My DME (who is great, so here is a plug: Home Respiratory and REM Sleep Center, Austin, Texas, 512.452.0004.) See Vickie.

I just received a Mirage LT from them, but they are willing to let me try the FX when they get them in, since I am still getting some leakage from the LT. They haven't had the FX mask demo'd to them yet, so they were not real familiar with it. Here are their (and my) questions combined.

1. How do you determine what frame size to use, rule of thumb (S,M,L)?
2. Is the pillow size independent from the frame size (i.e., can you put a large pillow on a medium frame?)
3. Is there an option for an over-the-head hose?
4. Is it a better side-sleeper than the LT?
5. General impressions about the FX vs. the LT.

Thanks,
Al Keegan

Ok - here goes:

1) I use the same pillow size as the Swift II and Swift LT (medium). It comes with S,M,L but there is also an extra small available for an extra charge.
2. Yes, pillow size is independent of frame size. One frame fits all pillow sizes
3. No, there is no option for an over-the-head hose though I suspect some enterprising forum members will rig up something. I'm finding that the hose doesn't bother me.
4. For me it's a *much* better side sleeper than the LT. The silicone strap is so soft and easy to adjust! The nasal pillows don't seem to get knocked around when I shift in my sleep (which I do a lot some nights).
5. I liked the Swift II, liked but didn't have a lot of luck with the LT, and love the FX.

There are some other threads going on the subject of the FX that you might want to read.
