Breeze Sleep System

Post by kbmitch » Tue Oct 04, 2005 3:26 pm

Thanks to you all, I have got my Breeze adjusted fairly well so it is as comfortable as I can reasonably expect. I do have a couple questions. First, is there any way to re-aim the exhale port? My wife complains that when I face her, she gets blasted with a jet of cold air. I checked the manual and it doesn't mention anything. Second, what kind of soap do you use to clean it. The manual says to stay away from perfumey soaps but everything I have has some perfume in it. I have been using some dish washing liquid. Finally, what has worked the best for you to anchor the hose to the headboard. I tried tying it with a shoe lace but it locked me into one location on the bed. I roll over a lot in my sleep and each night, at least once, I nearly rip it off my head. It doesn't make for a good night's sleep when that happens! I thought about making a tie using some lightweight elastic so it would stretch some but if it snapped in the middle of the night . . . . . That might not be such a good idea! Thanks for any help or hints!!

I have come up with the fool proof hose management system. it is hard to explain, but I have a retractable thin line that pulls out and recoils with an alligator clip that I clip to the hose cover. When I move I can't even feel a tug.

I can send you pics if you wish. It's simple ,but a very important part of my mask compliance.

SLPYHED,

Could you perhaps post the photo of your invention? I'm sure a lot of us would be interested in what sounds like darn good lab-ratting to me. If you don't have a place to put it on the internet as a host, you can send it to me at my email address and I'll post it for you. OR...you can go to Photobucket.com and sign up so you can always include images in your posts here.

No problem! I won't get to it until Sunday at the earliest. I am in California on business till then.

No such luck for hose management on the road with my travel S8.

I will take detailed pictures. Do you have excel? I would like to use arrows , etc on the descriptions.

Thanks!

hose support

Post by Ms Piggy » Tue Oct 04, 2005 8:56 pm

I put a hook in the ceiling, hooked a peice of string to it with a couple of elastic bands on the end through which I thread part of my hose. It works well even though it looks a bit tatty, it was a test model. Pity it's not really transportable.

Breeze re air blast

Post by Ms Piggy » Tue Oct 04, 2005 9:56 pm

On one of the equipment sites I saw a diagram of a deflector re your air probliem, I haven't tried it yet - much more fun without it!. you tape a narrowish peice of filter type foam over the hole, it may have been bumped up a bit, and fasten each end with narrow tape.
If I can find my notes with more detail I will post U again tomorrow. You guys keep me up far to late. can't get these things to work.

Ms. Piggy,

I am far from an expert of the workings of masks (I just wear 'em), but it would seem to me to be very risky to cover up the exhaust port with a filter that may not allow the air to leave at the required rate. If I read your post right, I think that might not be the best thing you could do. The exhaust port is built the way it is for a reason and I don't believe should be restricted by covering it with anything. Now, a deflector is a different story.

breeze baffle

Some way to divert the airstream from the breeze port??
Hmmmm- let moi think.
If I wanted to do this, I would start with my trusty soldering iron that I use to weld the breeze when it breaks.
I would think of some type of dome or diverter.
Something like a piece of an old broken breeze that I have plenty of. Maybe the portion that has lots of holes in the ribbing.
I would cut this off and melt it into a half moon shape and weld the ends to either side of the plenum over the hole- not touching the hole or restricting it-just hovering over it like a dome.
This would allow the air to come up and hit the structure and divert it evenly and it would not blow forward at all.
Bet it would work.
No problem with moi since it does not bother my wife and my 2 y/o grandson will lean over and put his mouth over the hole and let it blow in and giggle, then move his face to let it blow in his eyes.
I could not deprive him of such pleasures.

difuser for breeze

Post by Ms Piggy » Wed Oct 05, 2005 8:25 pm

I agree Lori, but the idea was not to block the air but to divert it so that it vented out of the sides under the porous foam.. not my idea, I saw it on another site some time ago. There was a picture of it on a cpap supply site (am I allowed to say that??) listed under "hints" . I prefer not to try it myself and am not advocating that anyone else does.
They used a thin peice of porous air filter foam half an inch wide and 1" or 1 & quarter ins long plus quarter inch wide tape.
The foam has to be ARCHED over the vent hole and, obviously, taped at each end. Could be they were just trying to boost air filter sales dya tink?.

Re the hose support problem, I saw a neat hose support, hat rack type thing,
made using plastic plumbing pipes and elbows. Don't we have fun with all this stuff, it's something to really get our creative juices flowing. Maybe that explains the dribbles!

Ms. Piggy,

It doesn't sound like what I thought you were describing in the beginning. That doesn't sound harmful at all since you're not placing the foam over the port directly, but rather above it. I don't think that would really be a problem.

Thanks for the details. Now I know better what you were talking about.
