Had a Good Night! Used Swift LT Mask for her

Post by LaCansada » Sun Feb 14, 2010 6:56 am

After playing musical masks (FF gel mask, nasal gel mask, LifeFit, Mirage Quattro) I finally used the mask I never thought I could use. The LT Swift for her. And with the most success, I think. Slept 7.5 hours, feel great. I have always been a mouth breather so I have been gravitating toward the FFM's. But they leak, leak, leak. I tried the LT for her with a chinstrap and ripped it off after 2 minutes because I felt like I was suffocating to death. Last night, I gave it another try with no chin strap. Big psychological difference. And I figured, what the heack. Worst case, I'm tired this morning. Well, I was only aware of mouth-breathing once. And it was so uncomfortable (cotton mouth) I stopped it right away. This may be the mask for me. Lesson learned: If at first you don't succeed....

Congratulations!! I hope it continues to work well for you! I have had the Swift LT for Her since the end of September. Tried another & didn't like the thing on my forehead. The Swift seems to work well for me also!
I just wish I could get to the point of having more energy. The doctor says that it can take some people 6 to 8 months to adjust to that point. We'll see.
Again, good luck!!
Wish I had been issued a machine that would give me info as to how I am doing. Mine only tells me how long I used it each night.

Dear La Cansada,

Congratulations on having a restful night with your Swift LT for her. It took me a month to get over my panic with having something by my nose - I was actually hyperventilating with it on. I think that this happened because I was making the straps on my mask too tight, mushing the nasal pillows. I now leave it nice and loose, but just enough to make a proper seal. I have slept for 2 nights on my side and am very happy. I am ordering a small fleece cover for my 12" hose from pad-a-cheek because my husband likes our bedroom temperature kept at about 64 degrees, causing rain out in my mask. I used to get rain out in my large hose, but my DME got me a protective sleeve for the hose.

Keep me posted on how you are doing with your Swift LT for her.

Wishing you good health and restorative, peaceful sleep,

Jersey Girl

I had the same experiences...went through several masks...and then returned to the Swift LT for Her determined to make it work. It works VERY well for me! No leaks...AHI usually below 2 each night. I do have to use a chinstrap though....but all in all...no big deal! I wish you continued success!
