Cpapusa.com, Good or Bad????

Post by Komodo » Fri Jan 15, 2010 10:50 am

I KNOW, I KNOW!!!! I should have asked this question BEFORE placing an order with them.

I ordered a Resmed card reader from them on Jan 5th. Still don't have it.
Tried calling them, and couldn't get thru to a live person.
Tried "LIVE Online Chat" and nobody was there!
Left a message on their "chat", got a reply the next day that they were waiting for Resmed to ship it to them!!!

Has anyone had any dealings with Cpapusa? Are they a repuptable company? Should I try to cancel my order?

Thank's in advance
John

I have purchased from them a few times and have never had any problem. I'm in Canada.

Just sharing my experience. It may help you.

I'm sorry for your trouble. I always order from our hosts, cpap.com so haven't used the other site. I can say cpap.com is timely in all respects and easy to reach.

I bought my (Infineer) card reader from them back in June. I never attempted to contact them about the order, as there were no problems with the transaction.

Hope you get your reader soon.

Hawthorne

How is shipping to Canada. I asked on a company from Florida and they told me it would be between $35 to $40, for a simple ResScan. I would gladly buy from Cpap.com but they don't want to ship certain items to Canada.

I'll not go into details here, but suffice it to say that my experience with them was not a good one.

rosacer - I'm sorry but I can't recall what the shipping cost was the last time I ordered from cpapusa.com. It couldn't have been too much or I would not have completed the order. I have ordered several times from them so the shipping cost must have been reasonable.

I have shopped with several online suppliers and some want too much to ship so I don't proceed with the order either.

I too have always been glad to shop with cpap.com but, as you said, they can't ship certain items to Canada.

I am always careful that any online US supplier ships to Canada via the Postal Service. If they send anything by Courier, we Canadians have to pay a brokerage fee.

I have bid on and won several items on cpapauction.com. I always ask the seller if they will ship to Canada via the Postal Service if they don't indicate that. Again, if they will ship to Canada but want too much to do that, I won't bid.

I recently placed an order with them for an ozzie hose. (Would have bought from CPAP.com, but they don't sell them)

My order with CPAPusa was placed the first week of december. I only took delivery of the package this week. I was delivered to me via USPost, as promised (I'm in Canada and that's important). The cost of shipping was about $22 (to Canada).

My beefs with them:

It is my understanding the the delay in delivery was because they did not have the hoses in stock. When I ordered, they should have advised me of this fact.

I contacted their order line in late december to find out why there was a delay. They did not respond to my email.

The package was delivered to my door with "duty payable". This doesnt' happen with orders from CPAP.com because they correctly label the packages as medical equipment, which is exempt. Why CPAPusa doesn't do this is beyond me. Note that when I ordered, I asked them if they shipped to Canada and the reply was "all the time". I guess I should have been more explicit in my questioning.

Overall, I got what I ordered. It took longer than I expected. The delay was not all the fault of CPAPusa. Communication from CPAPusa was lacking. And in the end, I paid more than I should have because of the customs issue.

One good thing is that in all of this, CPAPusa did not bill my credit card until they actually shipped the unit.

Bottom line: they are honest but customer service is not a strong point.
I'm workin' on it.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.
I received a "shipping conformation" email from them this morning. The type of conformation that the USPS says they're expecting to get the package to send out, but didn't get it yet. There's no telling when it will ACTUALLY be sent out. I am not happy!

I've bought a LOT of stuff on line over the years, and this is only the 2nd time I've had a problem. Guess I should consider myself lucky?

It goes without saying, I will never shop at Cpapusa ever again!

The tracking of parcels is not all that accurate. I have seen that notice that the USPS is "expecting" to get that parcel.

Sometimes the parcel arrives and it STILL says that on the USPS tracking site. After a reasonable period of time (whatever that is - I have to guess), I start looking for it on the Canada Post tracking site and often it is there, although the USPS site says they have not yet received it.

You just never know. It often takes much longer to get to Canada because it can be held up in Canada Customs for quite a time.

I have had this happen with many online sites. It can happen when ordering from cpapusa.com or any other online site, including cpap.com.

Thank you Hawthorne and Hose_Head for the information about shipping to Canada, etc. I can't understand why cpap.com doens't ship to us Resmed products, for good or for bad I get a Resmed machine and now I see it's not easy to buy our stock.

Cpap.com told me they wlould sell to me whatever I wanted from Resmed but I needed to ship it to a USA address, hard to understand.

CPAP.com cannot ship Resmed products to Canada because Resmed forbids them from doing so. This prohibition is relatively recent. Blame Resmed, not CPAP.com.

I've never seen an official reason why Resmed doesn't allow shipments to Canada. As others have done on this forum, I can only speculate that it's because of pressure from Canadian DMEs who do not want to compete in an open market place. Thus, you also can blame Canadian DMEs.
I'm workin' on it.

It's not just Canada. ResMed prohibits shipping their equipment anywhere outside the US.

Not sure what is going on with CPAPusa. I ordered my Aussie hose from them a year ago, and was thrilled with the service. I spoke with the owner and let him know I was desperate to get the hose, so he quickly wrapped it up and sent it out with that day's shipments. It arrived to me the very next day. The owner and I had a nice chat over the phone. I mentioned to him that I was hoping that the hose would help warm the air coming into the machine. He let me know that it might help a bit, but that the main purpose of it was to help with rain-out issues (which I already knew). I super appreciated his honesty; he did not want to sell me something that I did not need.

I also ordered my card reader from them. I remember that he was waiting for his shipment of them, but he told me so, and it wasn't a surprise to me that there'd be a wait.

All-in-all I was thrilled with his customer service, and shocked to hear that have been problems with them lately. I wonder what's going on?!
