Hi, Den,
I can now breathe through my nose with only a little bit of the stinging pain. I have stopped the nasal rinse, the Nasonex and the Ayrgel. I've used the UMFFM (based on your good luck with it) I've added humidity and heat to the machine. I've changed my settings lower than they should be so that the continued force of the air in the nostrils is more gentle. I'm still having violent sneezing attacks that cause muscle spasms. (they are really bad!) They are not nearly as frequent.
The UMFF is still causing problems, as I cannot get the straps right to save my life (literally.) I've done everything. I know it's the right size, as my DME fitted me in the office. I was so frustrated, I went back to my Activa a few nights ago, which makes the irritation a little worse, but at least I can sleep. The leaks were keeping me up all night with the UMFF.
I've been working with Bret from Pursleep to get a Papcap, and maybe that will help with the FFM leaking issue.
After six rounds of anitbiotics, I'm still feeling a little rough, but being able to sleep without screaming pain is good.
Honestly, I have no idea what happened here, but I can tell you it's been a nightmare.
Happy New Year, as 2010 has to be better than 2009!!

Re: In Distress
Forgot to add- Animal Lover, I hope everything gets better for you soon!
Gerryk- yes I did buy the Polanaris, but hated it! I'll try with the cotton, but for now, I'm just giving the nose a break from everything. I'm pretty usre I've upset the natural balance with all the things I;ve used to keep it "healthy".

Welcome animallover and Happy New Year!animallover wrote:Hi,
I just got on this talk list. Am starting with some kind of a machine as soon they have everything worked out. I have central apnea where my brain doesn't make me breath at night. During the day I have the control but obviously feel terrible. Got some wonderful caring letters as I sat at the computer crying. So reluctantly am ready.
I know nothing about the infections but do always have very dry and red nostrils especially living in a "dry" climate.
My ENT Doc. sent me to the pharmacy for sesame oil nasal moisturizer. I think they make it up for him. It sure helps. Also I read about (forgot the words) the squeeze things going back into the jar. I use a special adapter to my water pick, set to the lowest. I make my own 1/3 tsp salt, pinch of baking powder and a cup of warm water. When I don't use this reguarly and am really red I cut back on the salt a bit.
I'm only starting this process soon so don't know much else. Much luck to you!
