Mask fitting

Post by Patrick A » Tue Dec 15, 2009 2:00 pm

Last night I went for a new study. the RT fitted me for a new mask, I have been having problems for several years, because the masks never fit right. Every time I went to APRIA RIPOFF they said I needed a small mask. I have always used a small mask since. I have always had the feeling that the mask was blowing in my face. the RT fitted me with a large mask an Optilife mask. It was really leaking He then tried the small had all kind of problems....he used a medium pillow. I slept better than I have in a long time after he finally set the test machine on Auto. I even did not have it feeling like it was blowing in my face all night. So any way I am using a Swift Mirage II at the present time I will probably go to the Optilife but for the time being I have a lot of small pillows to trade for mediums. PM me.

it helps to find a CPAP suply place with an experienced mask fitter who has a range of different masks to try on you
you lie on their couch trying the masks with their CPAP set to your pressure, worth paying more for this, IMO
australian, anxiety and insomnia, a CPAP user since 1995, self diagnosed after years of fatigue, 2 cheap CPAPs and respironics comfortgell nose only mask. not one of my many doctors ever asked me if I snored

Mask fit is so so important as you just found out the hard way. Seems their are so many hacks out there who basically know jack about fitting a mask and keep at it.
Good luck with the new mask.
