Got my machine...

Post by woodg » Mon Nov 23, 2009 2:47 pm

Actually from what I've read, it seems that things are moving along quickly for me.

I had my titration study a week ago last night, got a call from my DR on Wednesday and a call from the DME a few hours after that.
My insurance company decided to go ahead and purchase the machine right away so I could get things on this years deductible instead of next years, which is significant because I have an HSA with a $2,600 deductible. At any rate, here is what I've got....

Resmed Escape II with H4i heated Humidifier.
Resmed Mirage Activa Nasal Mask.

My pressure is 8 and the exhalation relief is 3.

Tonight will be my first night with it and tomorrow I travel to Baton Rouge, where I will be until Sunday. I'm in hotels 5 nights a week this time of year, but I've only got a few more weeks before that's over.

I've been working on getting the mask adjusted right, but the fit doesn't seem to be quite right. It's not uncomfortable at all and it seems to be sealing well, but from the diagrams it seems like it's too tight. This is the same mask that I had my titration study with and it worked well for me then.

I'm trying to log on to the Myresmed site to look for info but am having some trouble at the moment. I've got some time before I go to bed so hopefully I'll get it worked out before then.

I'll let you know if tonight goes as well as the titration study.

Thanks,
Gary

be patient and think positive
dont forget the power cord when you travel

scratch your name and address on CPAP, record the details of model and serial number
use CPAP for any daytime naps
tell us how you manage

Wood... they gave you the bottom of the barrel... probably wanted to pay for it before you realized what you had.

Get at least an Elite... insist on it!

With an Escape all you can go on is how you feel... you'll have no idea of leaks, AHI, none of it.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check with them tomorrow.

Ah, no. You need a data-capable machine; you got the dumb (no data) lowest level machine . If at all possible, you should get it swapped out for the Elite II so that every morning, you can look at the LED display to see your leak, AHI, AI, and HI for the preceding sleep. Most of us log the data (or have software that does that) to reveiw for trends and improvement we can make (if lots of leaks). I had the older version of the Escape and used it from Aug '07 until 2 wks ago when I got my APAP. All that time, my recovery was slow but it was progress and I never considered that I could be doing better because I was so much better than pre-diagnosis -- no data so no way to know what might have helped. Pleas try to get upgrade to the Elite II, it's so much better.
