Mild confusion over AutoSet II mask settings.

Post by Cavallo » Mon Nov 23, 2009 2:33 pm

So, I did some reading on <gasp> another board. There, I read the following;
"If a non-Resmed mask the Mask Selection should be set to Standard and at the Standard setting the Resmeds automatically deduct 0.4 L/s or 24 L/M from the reported Leak rate. The mask literature then becomes very important for the allowed vent rate table. Use the reported 95th percentile of pressure to determine the proper allowed vent rate and then do the math. Remember 24 L/M has already been deducted.'
My DME set the mask setting on my AutoSet II to "Swift." I opted for an Opus 360. She knows this. She gave it to me.

If the above quote is to be relied upon, this setting is merely a mathematical crutch, and that to find a true leak rate, I'd have to figure out some sort of ventilatory flow rate for the Opus 360, and subtract it from the reported leak rate, is this correct? Anyone been through this already? Are my stellar leak numbers misleading me?

The Swift and the Opus leak rates are pretty much linear on the charts, maybe a difference of 1-2 L/Min. I would say you are safe in trusting the leak rates you are seeing.

Excellent, thanks. Are all these leak rates in a handy table somewhere? I kinda poked around in the Wiki, but didn't see much. Perhaps I didn't look deeply enough.

Not sure if they are ALL listed anywhere, but here are the links for the Resmed and for the Opus.
