All:
I am a user of the REMstar LITE and am fairly certain that my current pressure setting is inadequate. I have been at the same pressure setting (7) for at least ten years and have unfortunately experienced what one may consider significant weight gain during this time. Lately, I've been very tired and my wife has reported that I "snore" much more frequently. On two trips with my friends in the last six months, they too have reported that I "snore" as much as I did prior to getting my first CPAP machine.
All this said - I have scheduled a new sleep study to get these issues addressed. I am not MD-phobic and want to make sure I get this fixed. The issue is that I am unable to get an appointment with my pulmonary doctor or for a sleep study for at least a month. I have another trip with friends coming up and frankly it is embarrassing to inconvenience them by "snoring" so loudly when we share a room.
Does anyone have instructions on how I may change the pressure of my REMstar LITE until I'm able to see the Doctor and get a sleep study? I understand this is taboo and I apologize if it is inappropriate for these boards. I simply want to increase my pressure to 10 to see how it makes me feel until I'm able to get the correct services.
If you're willing to share your wisdom, my direct email address is: PeakTek78@yahoo.com
Thank you in advance for your time and considerations.
REMstar LITE Pressure - HELP PLEASE!
Re: REMstar LITE Pressure - HELP PLEASE!
I tried searching and found a few instances of other people looking for the same information but couldn't find where anyone had ever posted the solution. I'm not familiar with that machine, other than from fuzzy pictures I've seen posted on Craigslist. It appears to have only two buttons, I'm not sure what their function would be. If the Lite is anything like the other Respironics machines, you probably get to the clinician's menu by first unplugging the machine's power, then press and hold either one or both of the buttons and then plug it back in while holding the button(s) down. If you were shown how to access the menu before, hopefully this will either work or jog your memory.
If you happen to get this figured out, please post back so others with the same issue in the future will have some guidance.

Re: REMstar LITE Pressure - HELP PLEASE!
I was able to find a thread with specific instructions on how to change the pressure but was unsuccessful in implementing the instructions. Specifically, as you had guessed, the way to get into "Therapists Mode" is to plug the cord into the AC outlet and leave the other end unattached to the machine. Then, firmly hold down both the ramp and power button before plugging the cord into the machine. When you do so, the "unlock" icon appears and the blower startus up. Please be advised it took me 40-50 tries to get this result - I'd advise trying to do so with a partner so that the other person can hold down the buttons with sufficient pressure while you plug in the cord. In any event, I changed my pressure from 7 to 12 and am hoping for obvious results. I still plan on seeing the pulmonary doctor and doing a new sleep study, but I'm fairly certain the pressure needed to be increased. We shall see.
Thank you for your help.
