Taking Mask Off While Asleep

Post by steveeas » Sun Sep 27, 2009 1:52 pm

I've taken my mask off in my sleep for the last couple of days. Does everyone generally go through episodes such as these? I enjoy using my equipment and been fortunate in not having much of a struggle acclimating to all of it.

Lots of people do go through periods of removing their mask during sleep, without realizing that they are doing it, especially early in their therapy.

One solution I heard about was to wear tuble socks on your hands to make it difficult to take a mask off. It seems to wokr for some people!

Glad you are not having a lot fo difficulty getting used to your equipment. Taking the mask off during the night may resolve itself but you may need to try something like the tube socks for a while.

Hope that helps!

this is a common problem for new CPAP users, it helps to tape mask to face so the pain will remind you to leave it there
