Were you more tired at first?

Post by LisaEileen » Thu Aug 27, 2009 8:37 am

The DME guy told me that I would probablly be more tired the first few weeks of using my bipap because I've never been able to get into stage 3/4 or REM, so once my body gets into those modes, it's going to want to stay there awhile. He wasn't kidding! I've had my bipap 8 days. The last 2 days I slept like a baby, which is wonderful! Last night I was dreaming liKe I was watching some kind of movie. It was all very strange. lol But, I'm exhausted. I can't believe I slept so well, but I'm so tired. I'm just wondering if this is the case for a lot of you when you first started out? How long did it take for you to feel rested? Starting next Tuesday, I go back to my crossing guard job and homeschooling my kids. I really hope I'm not going to be this tired.

How long do you give a mask before you give up on it? My nose is SO sore. I tried putting a bandaid on it last night and it's actually worse. I'm going to try the band aid one more time tonight. It took 5 months for Medicaid toapprove me getting this machine. I don't want to mess with it too much by begging to try another mask if I don't have to.

It is called "Sleep debt"
Your body just wants more.
Try to put a piece of thin knit fabric between you and the mask - just cut up an old t-shirt
Also be careful with how much you tighten the mask - most need room to inflate.
Try adjusting it with the screw thing on the forhead thingy - that way the mask can get angled away from your nose.

Took me about a week not to be tired the next day. Everyone is different though.
