Pain

Post by Guest » Mon Jul 13, 2009 10:07 am

Why did I have such a wonderful experience with my ResMed Mirage Micro Nasal Mask at my sleep study, but now can only use the machine for a couple or at max four hours without waking up with a headache? It also hurts where it sits on my sinus bones (I have NO IDEA what those bones right beside your nose and under your eyes are called)? I keep messing with the controls and adjusting my mask, but I'm exhausted right now, and all I want to do is go back to sleep (I'm even typing with my eyes closed for a pseudo-nap). Help!

Top of head says the mask's the wrong size OR the straps need to be loosened...everything I've read here says that folks typically over-tighten masks to prevent leaks and ironically that increases them.

I had almost the exact same problem with the same mask 3 weeks ago, but it was my lip.

As Muse suggested, I had the mask tightened way too much. Try resting it on your face, then just adding enough strap to keep it from falling off.

Note that you can also adjust the angle of the forehead piece. Again, I'd do it with the mask just sitting on your face.

With the adjustments, if not for the air pressure, it didn't feel like there was a mask on my face.

On a side note, I experienced some discomfort from the pressure my first couple nights that I hadn't noticed during my sleep study. It stopped bothering me in short order, but it did take some getting used to.

Hope that helps, and hang in there!
