Slept without my CPAP last night

Post by RipVanWinkleWannabe » Fri Jul 10, 2009 2:32 pm

is all I can muster. I've been sick the past couple of days and I woke up last night after about an hour sweating, feeling sick, uncomfortable, etc. Jerked off my mask because I didn't feel like dealing with potential leaks, etc. Felt it this morning. Felt like I'd been hit by a truck. You don't realize how beneficial CPAP is until you take a night off. I know this isn't ground-breaking info for you guys, but it really opened my eyes (no pun intended) to the positive effect CPAP is having on my body.

I'll tell ya... I simple cannot WAIT until I get to start my therapy. I was titrated on the 4th, and have the eqp delivery on the 21st. I'm literally counting the MINUTES until then.
I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired!

I know the feeling. I've been on CPAP for about 90 days now. I use it for every nap (so few now compared to the bad old days) and every night.
Except one-- when the power went out for 10 hours, starting at 2:00 am... So then i got a dose of what it feels like to stop CPAP therapy.

Hope you get well soon!

If I'd had any doubts about my xPap therapy, the respiratory infection I had in April convinced me. Two nights without my machine was torture.

I agree with you. I had had conjunctivitis a couple of times and couldn't use my mask. Of course, that means I can't use any sleep apnea equipment. It is remarkable how well most of us adjust to sleeping with that mask strapped to our faces, and hooked to a hose. And, how much we miss it, if we have to go without.

I was dx with apnea several years ago. Masks were not as good then, as they are now. I kept getting air in my eyes. It irritated them and turned into conjunctivitis. Which I got again and again, and finally had to stop cpap.

I was able to restart this year. I am personally appreciative that the masks are better than they used to be, the machines are quieter. And what I thought was hard, has become easy.

Good thread.

Jan
