How hard is it to support yourself with a "intelliPAP AutoAdjust DV54D-HH with SMARTFLEX?"
I am trying to decide between a brand-new "intelliPAP AutoAdjust DV54D-HH with SMARTFLEX" and he used "ResMed S8 "AutoSetâ„¢ II CPAP Machine" which would be only slightly less expensive. Both will have heated humidifier. I am very new to using a CPAP machine having only used one for a few nights. The one I am using is a ResMed S8 Escape model I not a model II. It is on loan from my health plan till September 20. My biggest complaint with it has been my nose has been cold without a heated humidifier. As of now I have only found a downloadable manual for the "ResMed S8 "AutoSetâ„¢ II CPAP Machine" not the "intelliPAP AutoAdjust DV54D-HH with SMARTFLEX" but even if I should find the other manual what all do you need to know to support yourself using a CPAP machine. Is changing the pressure range just about it? My respiratory therapist tells me there is no respiratory therapist in my health plan that knows anything about intelliPAP CPAP machines.
Other questions are how a few hour machine is likely to give me trouble free service for a few years at least. What is likely to be the cost of repair for both machines that are used machine with two months guarantee and the new one with three year warranty.
My respiratory therapist gave me reasons why "ResMed S8 "AutoSetâ„¢ II CPAP Machine" may be better for me. That is the machine that the overwhelming majority of the therapist know. It generates a report which is minute by minute and they would not be able to accept a report from another machine even if I could get a minute by minute report. They feel they do not like me looking at my own reports. Looking at your own reports makes you conscience of numbers not conscience of how you feel. But I am wondering if I should be conscience of the numbers for this is not my only health problem. I had a micro about repair to my heart which did not give a perfect result. It left me with some stenosis which I understand gives me high blood pressure of the lungs. This only adds to the high blood pressure of the lungs caused by Apnea and hypoxia. So maybe I should be looking at my numbers and the numbers generated in the "intelliPAP AutoAdjust DV54D-HH with SMARTFLEX" seem very intelligible to me. I have seen reports generated ResMed software on this site and it is hard to understand, as well as being hard and expensive to get such software in the United States.
The way my health plan operates is if you have sleep apnea they recommend to the overwhelming majority people (most of whom unlike me have 80% coverage for equipment) get a ResMed fix pressure machine. Then you should periodically loan an automatic machine to get reports that they will interpret and a ajust your pressure accordingly . She tells me since I have no equipment coverage this will cost me $40 for a reservoir instead of being $8 for people with equipment coverage if they want to have the heated humidifier too. It appears that I will have to do this loan in a of an auto machine even if I have a "intelliPAP AutoAdjust DV54D-HH with SMARTFLEX" since those are the only reports they will accept and know how to read. I do not know if that means $40 or a cold nose every time I need to be tested if I buy any of the machine than a "ResMed S8 "AutoSetâ„¢ II CPAP Machine." Will cold nose results be accurate if you are used to a warm nose?
