dt3500 card reader

Post by newname » Thu Jun 04, 2009 11:56 am

I'm planning on buying the reader, but was wondering if its hard to interpret the data. I have a hard time understanding the reports I get printed from my DME which say they are Encore . How does everyone know how to interpret the charts?
As of now I wouldn't know how to read the charts, therefore a card reader would be a waste of money, but I'm hoping its easy to learn.

It's pretty much greek to me, too. What alot of us do is print out screen captures and then post them to the forum for input.

Here's some info that might help you along the journey:

Data Utility File by Phil – phil1001
http://www.mycpap.org/
For those who have had issues with their Respironics cards crashing, losing data and various other issues. I have written a small utility that downloads the smart card data to a file. This file can be saved to your hard drive on a daily basis, or uploaded to the companion website. In case of problems, the latest file can be uploaded back to the card. The utility also allows clean formatting of your smart card returning it to a "virgin" state, this may be useful on cards that are being rejected by the reader or CPAP unit. There is a companion website that allows you to upload and store all of your data files as well in case something should happen to them. The next phase of the website will be the online charting of the saved data files into your own profile.

Card Reader Fix
viewtopic.php?p=189601#189601
1. Click on run (or windows-key R) and type services.msc.
2. Scroll down to Smart Card. Right click it. Click properties and where it says start-up type, make it automatic.
3. Reboot (or click "start" and reboot on normal schedule)
4. Your reader will now work.

After 1st running the services.msc program I mistakenly thought it was something new that I hadn't seen before. Then the penny dropped & I realized that this was the normal services set we use to activate windows services such as IIS & ftp etc. There is a very easy way to access these. I have created these screen grabs which hopefully speak for themselves. The above windows panels were set to display icons. Some computers will just show them as a list of items. But, the names are the same.
1) Open the 'Control Panel' & doubleclick 'Administrative Tools'
2) In Administrative Tools doubleclick the 'Services' entry
3) You should now see the services panel - scroll down ...
4) until you locate the 'Smartcard' entry - doubleclick it
5) Set 'Startup Type' to 'Automatic' & click 'Apply'
6) Return to services & check it shows Automatic for startup

A recipe for reinstalling the Mako DT3500 Card Reader drivers (By DreamDiver, 10/29/08)

I'm working on XP with classic start menu, so please adapt appropriately for Vista:
1. Insert the card reader into the usb port.
2. Right click on the 'My Computer' icon on the desktop.
3. Pull down to 'properties'. The 'System Properties' window appears.
4. Go to the 'hardware' tab.
5. Click on device manager. The 'Device Manager' window appears.
6. Scroll down to or locate 'Smart Card Readers'.
7. Click the plus sign to the left of that line to reveal the driver "Mako DT3500 SmartCard Reader"
8. Right click the driver.
9. Pull down to 'Uninstall'.
10. Remove the smart card reader from the USB Port.
11. Restart your computer.
12. Download the original manufacturer's reader driver installer for Encore Pro here.
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=35811&p=308594&hilit=Mako#p308594
13. Save it somewhere you'll remember, then double click it to reinstall the drivers.
14. If the installer asks you to insert the smartcard reader into the usb slot, do so. Otherwise just finish installing.
15. Insert the usb smartcard reader if you haven't already done so. It should automatically find your reader and ask you whether you want to install the drivers. Let it find the drivers automatically. You should now have a properly reinstalled set of drivers.
