Would somebody turn down that radio???

Post by carbonman » Tue May 05, 2009 7:51 am

Last night, I thought I was hearing the radio in my mask,
or through the hose or something.
I thought, it couldn't be coming through my mask...
it was coming from outside. So, I got up and went outside.
It was more clear, but still sort of far away.
I walked down the street til it was very clear.
It was coming from the Monkey Butt Piano Lounge.
It was the sound of a small combo, so I walked inside.

On a small stage, was DSM, in an astronaut suit,
playing an acoustic, stand-up bass.
Perched on a bar stool, next to him, was JNK, on guitar.
Spanking the ivories of a wornout baby grand,
the name sake of the place.....well,
through the blue, smokey haze, I couldn't make out a face.
All this gyrating to the swish-swish-swish of a brush on a snare
and the low thud of an old, beatup bass.

I just stood there in total disbelief.

Then, I slowly began to realize that the swish-swish-swish,
was the hiss of a small leak, and the slow, steady rhythm,
was the beat of my heart.

This wasn't coming through my mask or hose,
it wasn't coming from down the street,
it was coming from the deep recess,
of a brain,
fast,
fast,
asleep.

to see or feel those changes, you'll never know what you're capable of."
I said that.

I heard stuff comming out of my AFLEX machine last night for the first time around 3 AM. It sounded like a talk radio show but it was very faint and really not very clear. Something about Palin pleading with the Obama adminisitration about doing a pre-emptive nuclear strike on Russia to prevent an invasion of Alaska.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Not the first time I was in a band where the bass player wore a spacesuit.

Carbonman,

Where was Babette? She had to be there somewhere! The group would'nt be complete without her.

You got my attention with that one! As a broadcast engineer, I have had to deal with complaints of neighbors close to our AM transmitter site who 'could pick up the radio' on various things that were definitely not radios. I was thinking you had a heated hose or something like that, that might just possibly do that.

As my therapy is beginning to take hold, I am starting to have some interesting dreams as well.....good!

Thank you for sharing your poetry!

What a hoot, Carbonman! I started questioning if your lack of sleep affected your good sense when you started walking down the street in the middle of the night. Expected you to go yell at someone about the noise. I thought, "Only in my dreams would I do that where I live!" But you had me following you down the moonlit sidewalk right into the dimly lit bar. Quickly wondered if you'd ever posted pictures of a bike ride on Monkey Butt Ridge. Yep, you reeled me in. And I didn't mind at all.

That was FABULOUS!!!
Now we all should try out our storytelling skills about our crazy and hilarious dreams.
I know I have never experienced dreaming like I have since starting on Cpap last Dec.
You are quite talented!!!

I truly can imagine many more musicians either playing or strutting on the stage in Carbonman's dream.
