My mask journey

Post by JoeFF » Tue Apr 14, 2009 7:52 am

I am going on 5 weeks of CPAP and I am still trying to find a mask that is comfortable day in and day out. I have discovered that I do not like to have my mouth covered, so full face masks are out. The Swift LT Nasal pillow is ok, but I prefer the natural breathing sensation of a nasal mask. My DME fit me with a Comfort Gel nasal mask. I cannot get use to this thing, so I have been looking for another nasal mask to try. I used the sizing guide on CPAP.com and it says the Comfort Gel is not a good fit for my face size. Why the heck did my stupid DME suggest it for me??? Anyway, it suggests either the ComfortClassic Nasal Mask or the Ultra Mirage II as an option. Does anyone have an experience with either one of these, any feedback that you can provide. I cannot get the Comfort Gel to stop leaking, if I move my head at all it leaks, maybe the sizing guide is right and it will just not fit my face type. I like the small headgear on the Swift LT, but I do not seem to get the air flow to feel right. I have tried the Hybrid FF mask and I found that got a lot more air flow from the nasal pillows on it than I do from the Swift LT. If not for not liking my mouth covered, I would stick with the Hybrid as I get excellent air flow from it.

By the way, I am on auto titration, I start out at 9 and my average is 16cm, but sometimes goes as high as 18.
