I have only been using a CPAP for 6 weeks. I love it when everything works but other times are pretty aggrivating.
I have 2 masks: Mirage Swift Nasal Pillows and Comfor Profile Lite.
My nose is very small and the Swift does not always stay in place. This causes some problems for my husband. I also noticed something when we were measuring my face for one of those "fit" surveys.........my nasal openings are lopsided. One side is very samll and "slotted, the other is larger and round. I wonder if that has something to do with the irregulare fit of the Mirage.
The profile lite is great - for one night! The forhead support is rubbing a sore and I'm getting one on the bridge of my nose as well. I have the straps as loose as they can be without leaking.
I think I need a new mask.
I have a VERY small nose and big full cheeks (think chipmunk). Any advice from you more experienced users?
Thanks,
Diane
Help needed selecting a new mask
Hi Diane,
If you don't mind a nasal mask, try the Activa. You'll see lots of comments on it if you use the "Search" function (see icon above). The Activa is really great because it really suctions onto your face (but doesn't hurt) and hardly ever leaks. Because it suctions so well, you don't have to worry about the headgear being tight...you can wear it very loose. I also like it because i like to sleep on my side and with the Activa I can do that and not worry about leaks.
As far as the Swift, you should also do a Search on Swift and you'll find lots of comments. There are a few "adjustments" you can make to the mask to reduce leaking. How you position the tubing can make a difference on leaking too. You might also want to try a larger nasal pillow. The pillows just need to rest at the entrance to your nose...you don't insert them way up into your nose. I was using the large pillows but then I tried the mediums and they work well too. Don't give up on your Swift yet, it's my favorite but I'm not sure I would have kept it if I didn't "doctor" it to fit better.
Hang in there and ask as many questions as you like!
