ResMed Optilife Setting

Hi -

I'm wanting to try the Optilife nasal pillow gear I've had sitting here for over a week - my Quattro mask seems to be leaking and I seem to be pulling it off in my sleep, again.

I use a Resmed Autoset II, and the clinical manual doesn't show a setting for the Optilife.

Does anyone know which Resmed setting is best for the Respironics Optilife? The only Nasal Pillows they list are the Swift Mirage and Swift Mirage II.

There also are the Papillon and Silent Papillon, which they list under "Standard," without any description.

I would try the "Swift" setting as this is the only one that is a nasal pillows type mask. All the other ResMed settings are for full face and nasal masks.
Check your ResScan report for leaks and you can see if this is close to what it should be. If you have a continuous "leak" value in the report and you don't feel any mask leaks while wearing it, you can then try one of the other settings and repeat the whole process.

I don't want to sound stupid But what are you talking about like what kind of setting to what your cpap or humidifier?
I'm learning so much on this group that I've never heard of.

The "Resmed Autoset II" is the air pump portion of the machine. The humidifier on my model is separate, but pretty much an integral part of it. I think with some other models and manufacturers, they're wholly separate. But I'm new myself, and not sure.

The mask setting is programmed into the Autoset - you go to that portion of the menu and select your mask from a list - but they don't list the new mask I was sent - or, not a "mask" but a nasal pillow setup. I'm not sure how the setting changes the function, but I'd guess it's air flow rate, or perhaps how the machine reads the delivered pressure - the basic CPAP pressure itself is set separately.

The humidifier on my system has settings from 1-5 (or 6), which just adjust how much humidity you get - I think it varies the water temperature, but it's so low I can't really tell.

Believe me, there's a TON of things to learn....

The Resmed integrated humidifier is called the Humidaire 3i or 4i.

Unlike the other manufacturers Resmed provides a Mask Selection option and subtracts the allowed vent rate for each of those masks from the reported Leak rate. If you use a non-Resmed mask then you should use the Standard Mask Selection. The Standard mask option subtracts 0.4 L/s or 24 L/M from the reported Leak rate. You look up the allowed vent rate for your set pressure for your non-Resmed mask in the literature that came w/it and THEN do the math. Whereas w/say the Respironics' you look up the allowed vent rate for your mask at your set pressure and THEN do the match.
