Are there any legal products for improving athletes’ perform

Post by Maddox » Thu Jan 22, 2009 4:19 am

Hello,

I am an athlete and have been preparing myself for a competition - my specialty is the 400 metres. I am a little overweight, which causes me to become tired around the 250m mark and drop off the pace. Are there any products that can help increase my stamina - legally? Your guidance is needed.

But if you're overweight (and running hasn't addressed that) maybe you're not training properly, and/or need to change the way you eat, because it sounds like what you're doing is dangerous (competing while being out of shape). You shouldn't be looking for perform enhancers, but lifestyle changes, better coaching, etc. etc. Do you have OSA?

There's tons of stuff out there, but I am confused as to what you mean by "legal". Do you mean "subject to city, state or federal law", or "allowed by the rules governing your particular level of competition"?

Personally, I find this a very controversial "gray area". If some athletes are using "shortcuts" in order to gain "an unfair advantage" (the same opportunity isn't afforded to all the other members of the field) then I feel that this is contrary to the "spirit of the competition".

Aromatherapy may help CPAP compliance. Lavender, Mandarin, Chamomile, and Sweet Marjoram aid in relaxation and sleep. Nature's Gift has these and a blend of all four called SleepEase.

Good morning,
I'm in agreement with the first 4 responders-I'm new too and maybe we aren't quite up on what is proper 'ettiquette' in regards to posts. I don't think your question is one for this site. I too am a runner (did Boston Marathon a few years back) and competed in Body Building years ago but Rooster and others are right- there are NO shortcuts. All the best but Lose the weight and live right.

Excellent point!

....BUT, those things require discipline.

"Products" are much eaiser than discipline.

I said that.

Hello,
Being an athlete it is very important for you to be fit for the competition, though taking any kind of medication to improve performance is often illegal. However, I have heard about a product from a reputed company called Melaleuca, who have created an Access Bar that burns body fat - great for increasing stamina. It has been used successfully by an Australian marathon swimmer, Tammy Van Wisse, who broke the New York to New Jersey swimming record in 2006 (http://www.melaleucaproducts.org). The product will help you to improve your performance and it is also legal, holds numerous patents worldwide, and is available in countries such as Canada, USA, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Asia Pacific. More details here in my signature given below:
